As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will own backend services powering a new conversational AI product.

You'll design high-throughput microservices, build real-time event-driven pipelines, and integrate LLM-driven tool-calling capabilities to create responsive, scalable user experiences.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Design, build,



and maintain high-performance microservices and REST/gRPC APIs primarily using TypeScript (Node.js) and Go. Architect event-driven and asynchronous streaming workflows utilizing Kafka, SQS/SNS, or similar distributed systems. Model, optimize, and tune relational and search data stores, including PostgreSQL/MySQL, OpenSearch, and Redis.

Deploy, operate, and scale containerized applications on AWS using Kubernetes (EKS/ECS). Establish clean service boundaries, system documentation, and sound unit/integration testing standards. Strong expertise in backend development with Node.js / TypeScript, along with proficiency or quick adaptability in Go.

Proven track record designing microservices architecture, REST/gRPC APIs, and event-driven systems (Kafka, SQS/SNS). Deep experience with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and Redis caching. Production hands-on experience with AWS services and containerized deployments on Kubernetes.

Proactive self-starter with strong communication skills and product instinct to operate effectively without rigid specifications. Practical experience debugging non-deterministic systems or AI-driven backend pipelines. Spain - Remote to Hybrid: Remote for the first 6 months, transitioning to hybrid with 2-3 days per week in our Madrid or Barcelona office.
