FULLY FUNDED PhD position in Medieval and Renaissance Literatue

We invite applications from highly motivated students in the Humanities interested in pursuing a fully funded PhD within the interdisciplinary research Group Premodern Textualities and Cultures integrated by literary, art and cultural historians is an interdisciplinary research project that investigates the culture and literature in Late Medieval and Early Modern Spain. The proposed thesis has to be related to at least one area or line of research (in I. areas https://premoderntextualitiesandcultures.com/ , and in Lines of research). The supervisor has to be permanent staff at a Spanish University (Universitat Pompeu Fabra).

The position will be funded through the FPU (Training of University Staff) scheme, financed by the Spanish Ministry. It is open to international applicants (EU and non-EU) and offers a paid PhD contract of up to four years; it requires to have a teaching load of 90hrs. per year. The last year contemplates a post-doctoral position.

Salary

The gross annual salary: €32,500/year + €10,000 stays and enrolment fees at the doctoral Programme + €3,350 end-of-contract severance.

The contract includes full social security coverage and two-years unemployment benefits. Maternity/Paternity and sick-leave prolongs accordingly the contract.

Qualifications

· Master’s degree in Philology, Literature, Humanities, Philosophy, History or a relevant field to be obtained in June 2026.

- Degrees obtained outside Spain are fully eligible
- Minimum average grade equivalent to 7.5/10 in the Spanish system.
