Key ResponsibilitiesThe Head of Academic Department will be responsible for:

- Leading and overseeing academic delivery across programmes.
- Developing, reviewing and continuously improving curricula and academic content.
- Ensuring curricula remain academically rigorous, industry-relevant and engaging for students.
- Managing the academic workflow from curriculum design and teaching delivery through assessment, verification and continuous improvement.
- Overseeing assessment processes, including assignment briefs, marking practices and academic feedback.
- Managing Internal Verification (IV), moderation and standardisation processes.
- Ensuring assessments align with Learning Outcomes, Assessment Criteria and criterion-based assessment requirements.
- Maintaining academic quality standards and supporting compliance with relevant awarding organisation requirements.
- Supporting lecturers and academic staff with curriculum delivery, assessment and academic quality.
- Promoting academic integrity and appropriate approaches to plagiarism prevention and responsible use of AI in education.
- Reviewing academic performance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensuring academic documentation, records and processes remain accurate and up to date.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for candidates who have:

✓ PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification

✓ 100% fluency in written and spoken English

✓ Proven higher education lecturing experience

✓ Experience in academic leadership or programme management

✓ Strong experience in curriculum design, development and academic planning

✓ Ability to create engaging, relevant and regularly updated academic content

✓ Strong knowledge of the UK assessment and quality assurance system

✓ Experience with Internal Verification (IV), moderation and standardisation





✓ Strong understanding of Learning Outcomes, Assessment Criteria and criterion-based assessment

✓ Knowledge of academic integrity, plagiarism and responsible AI use

✓ Experience with Ofqual-regulated qualifications and UK awarding organisations is highly desirable

✓ Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
