Position: Automation Lead Engineer

The Project

For a major greenfield industrial project in Antwerp, Belgium, we are looking for an experienced Automation Lead Engineer to support the commissioning and start-up phase of the plant.

As Automation Lead Engineer, you will take the technical lead for automation commissioning activities and coordinate the preparation, execution and troubleshooting of automation systems during commissioning and start-up.

Responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate automation commissioning activities.
- Provide technical direction to automation engineers, supervisors and commissioning teams.
- Review automation systems and documentation for commissioning readiness.
- Prepare and review commissioning procedures and test documentation.
- Coordinate testing of DCS, PLC, SCADA and associated automation systems.
- Support loop checks, functional testing, interlock testing and cause-and-effect testing.
- Coordinate troubleshooting of automation and control system issues.
- Ensure automation systems are fully tested and ready for plant start-up.
- Coordinate closely with instrumentation, electrical, process,



operations and other commissioning disciplines.
- Review punch-list items and coordinate their timely resolution.
- Support system handover from construction to commissioning and from commissioning to operations.
- Monitor progress and provide technical input to the commissioning management team.
- Provide technical support during plant start-up and stabilization.
- Ensure activities are performed in accordance with project procedures, specifications and HSE requirements.

Requirements

- Several years of experience in automation engineering, commissioning and start-up.
- Strong experience with automation and control systems in petrochemical, chemical, refinery, LNG or other process industry projects.
- Extensive experience with DCS, PLC, SCADA, interlocks and control systems.
- Proven experience in a lead engineering or commissioning role.
- Experience with commissioning and start-up of large-scale process plants.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary project teams.
- Good understanding of system handover and commissioning processes.
- Practical and field-oriented approach.
- Good command of English.
