Head of Business AI, Data and Applications

About the role

This role leads how Fersa turns its data into insight, its calculations into confident decisions, and its ideas into working applications and AI solutions that create real business value. Whoever takes it will own the business AI, data and applications agenda across the whole group.

What you'll own The role covers four connected areas, all group-wide and close to the business:

- Data and analytics: building a single source of truth, together with the reporting, KPIs and self-service that sit on top of it.
- Complex calculations and models: profitability, pricing, forecasting and the AI and machine learning behind them.
- Business applications: developing and maintaining both traditional and AI-powered apps.
- The AI stack: the agents, Copilot, GenAI and RAG environments the team uses to build and scale AI solutions.

What you'll be responsible for

- Delivering measurable business value, not just finished projects. You will be accountable for real outcomes such as better margin and pricing intelligence, faster and better decisions, and higher productivity.
- Building one trusted source of truth by centralising and governing data from across the subsidiaries, and getting the business to adopt common KPIs, calculations and dashboards.
- Owning the business application portfolio: deciding what to build, building it, integrating it and keeping it running.
- Scaling AI in a responsible, value-first way, on top of the governed infrastructure the Technology Platform provides.
- Building and growing the team. That means hiring well, developing people, and making sure knowledge is shared so no solution ever depends on a single person.
- Working closely with the other pillars — Technology Platform, Product AI Engineering and Business Transformation — and with the business areas, stepping up only when something genuinely crosses domains.
- Driving adoption:



running AI clinics, supporting champions and makers, and making sure people actually use what the team builds.
- Standardising and reusing, so the group works one way instead of building isolated local tools.

What we're looking for

- More than 5 years of experience in Data, analytics or enterprise applications, including at least two years leading a team.
- A track record of delivering data platforms, analytics and business applications, ideally in a multi-site or manufacturing business.
- Genuine hands-on experience applying modern AI to business problems (LLMs, agents, Copilot Studio, RAG, machine learning), always with an eye on value rather than hype.
- Comfort working with ERP data and enterprise integration.
- Evidence of real business impact, not just a list of projects delivered.

Technical background

Data engineering and modelling, SQL, BI and analytics tools, GenAI (agents, Copilot, RAG, LLM apps), application and low-code development, integration and APIs, and a solid grasp of data governance, quality and security.

Key relationships

This role works as a peer to the other parts of the operating model: the Technology Platform team (infrastructure and governance), Product AI Engineering (product and R&D; AI), and Business Transformation (process and adoption). Its main business stakeholders are Finance, Commercial, Operations and the subsidiaries.
