In our Barcelona office, we are always looking for talented and self-motivated architecture students who are eager to learn, contribute and develop their skills. We are currently looking for a motivated and hands-on Model Shop Assistant (internship) to join our Barcelona office and support the creation of architectural models across a wide variety of projects.

As a Model Shop Assistant, you will work closely with the Model Shop team and Project Teams to support the fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of architectural models. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in architecture, fabrication, and digital manufacturing who is eager to develop practical skills in a professional design environment.

What you will be doing:

- Assist in the fabrication and assembly of architectural models at different scales and stages of design.
- Support Project Teams with model-making tasks,



material preparation, and finishing techniques.
- Help operate digital fabrication equipment, including laser cutters and 3D printers, following established procedures and training.
- Support in preparing files and materials for model production.
- Maintain workshop organization, cleanliness, and safety standards.
- Assist with inventory management, including tools, materials, and consumables.
- Support the packing, transportation, and installation of models when required.
- Learn and apply model-making techniques using a variety of materials and fabrication methods.
- Contribute to testing and prototyping exercises under the guidance of the Model Shop team.

What we're looking for

- Currently enrolled students in Architecture, Design, Product Design, Engineering, Model Making, or a related discipline, with at least two years of completed studies.
- Strong interest in physical model making, fabrication, and design processes.
- Proficiency in Rhino.
- Familiarity with laser cutting, 3D printing, or digital fabrication tools is an advantage.
- Comfortable working in a workshop environment and handling model-making materials and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Fluent in English and Spanish.




- Be currently enrolled as a student and not expected to graduate during the internship period. Please note that, under Spanish legislation, master's graduates are not eligible for internship contracts. We will verify your student status, and you will be required to sign an internship agreement, together with your university.
- Be available for a full-time internship with BIG for a minimum of 6 months.
