JOB DESCRIPTION

A postdoctoral position is available to develop an interdisciplinary experimental project to study division in hematopoiesis using a new method to count division in vivo. The position is part of the ERC consolidator grant Dynamyelo.

The research activity will take place within the new team joining Biogipuzkoa, Quantitative Immuno-Hematopoiesis. The team studies murine and human hematopoiesis using experimental and mathematical tools. The group employs lineage-tracing techniques and cell division counting in mice and humans to investigate the differentiation of individual stem and progenitor cells. In the longer term, our results will improve understanding of healthy hematopoieisis and hematological disorders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this research position, the candidate will further develop the new method from the lab to count division and developed its own experimental project to make biological discovery on cell dynamics under the supervision of the team leader.

The candidate will have freedom to shape their own problems and experimental approaches. This position is primarily for wet lab but there will be strong interactions with our collaborator Ken Duffy (Northestern University, Boston, US).

REQUIRED

- PhD defended less than 3 years ago in hematology or immunology
- Hands-on experience in flow cytometry, cell sorting, 10X 3'scRNAseq
- Proficency in primary hematopoietic cell culture
- Proficency in hematopoietic transplantation experiment
- Experience in animal experimentation and animal experimentation diploma
- Experience in epigenetic analysis such as ATAC,

- Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
- Proficency in prism, flowjoe, diva

VALUABLE
- Motivation to work in an interdisciplinary research environment

CONTRACTUAL CONDITIONS

- TYPE OF CONTRACT (LEGAL REFERENCE): We are offering a 36-month postdoctoral contract with access to the Spanish Science, Technology, and Innovation System, with the possibility of extension.
- WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time (1,592 hours/year)
- EXPECTED START DATE: January 1st 2027
- ANNUAL GROSS SALARY: 30.000€ - 38.000€ gross per year

The remuneration shall be based on the candidate's commitment and merit, as well as how suited they are for the role. The worker must comply with the operating rules set by the Biogipuzkoa Institute in terms of commitment, duties, working hours, leave entitlements, etc.
