DESIGN ENGINEER - LOKEREN REGION (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION

We're currently recruiting for a Design Engineer with a strong mechanical engineering background to join a team responsible for the design and development of machines, mechanical assemblies and individual components.

In this role, you will take mechanical designs from initial concept through to detailed engineering and production, working on both new developments and improvements to existing products. You will be involved in creating and modifying 3D models and technical drawings, selecting appropriate materials and components, and ensuring designs meet functional, manufacturing and quality requirements.

The position would suit a mechanically minded engineer who enjoys hands-on design work and wants to be involved in the full development process. You will work closely with other engineering disciplines, production and suppliers to ensure that designs can be manufactured, assembled and ultimately perform as intended.

Responsibilities:

- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies and machine systems.
- Create and modify 3D CAD models and detailed technical drawings.
- Translate technical requirements and concepts into practical mechanical designs.
- Select appropriate materials, components and manufacturing methods.
- Perform basic engineering calculations and assess mechanical performance where required.




- Improve existing designs to enhance functionality, reliability, manufacturability or cost.
- Work closely with production, engineering and other internal teams during development and implementation.
- Support the transition of designs into production and resolve design-related issues.
- Communicate with suppliers and support the sourcing and development of mechanical components.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and design records.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional experience in mechanical design, machine design or product development.
- Strong experience with 3D CAD and technical drawing.
- Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
- Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies.
- Practical, hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Good communication skills in English.
