For a renowned European Institutation, we're looking for an experienced Data Scientist.

Your responsibilities

- Migrate, setup, and optimize legacy HPC ocean modelling workflows (SCHISM/TELEMAC) from Azure to EuroHPC systems using Apptainer/Singularity containers, MPI/OpenMP, and systematic parameter tuning.
- Develop automated, open-source data-driven pipelines to generate high-quality general coastline datasets (OSM) and unstructured global ocean meshes (Gmsh) based on bathymetry, slope, and continental shelf data
- Harmonize, process, and manage multi-terabyte to petabyte-scale heterogeneous datasets (NetCDF, Zarr, Icechunk), building scalable parallel storage and I/O strategies for model and observation data
- Build automated, data-driven validation frameworks with diagnostic diagnostics for ocean metrics (SSH, tides, salinity, temperature), applying AI/ML algorithms (scikit-learn, PyTorch, XGBoost) for quality control and anomaly detection
- Construct scalable, high-performance visualization and analytics pipelines (Datashader, PyVista, VTK, ParaView) tailored for large-scale, out-of-core unstructured mesh datasets

Your profile





- You have a Master degree and 10+ years of professional IT & Data experience including expertise in Python programming, Scikit-learn, and designing CI/CD pipelines
- You have several years of experience with Cloud architecture and Azure, with containers (Singularity/Apptainer), and with High-Performance Computing (HPC)
- Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) certification is a strong asset
- Strong background in scientific Python (NumPy, Xarray, Dask), geospatial processing (GDAL, GeoPandas), unstructured mesh ocean modeling (SCHISM/Gmsh), and large-scale data formats (NetCDF, Zarr)
