Senior C++ Software Engineer - Hardware Systems Barcelona, Spain | Hybrid - 2 days onsite per weekWe're looking for a strong hands-on C++ engineer who enjoys working close to real hardware and solving complex system-level problems. You'll join the Barcelona R&D; team of a large, established general technology company, working on next-generation software for complex, high-performance hardware systems. The work sits across application software, hardware interfaces, drivers and high-speed data streaming, within a long-term and well-established R&D; programme. This is particularly suited to an engineer who enjoys getting beneath the application layer, understanding how the complete system behaves, debugging across different layers, and solving performance and integration problems.What You'll Work OnDevelop Modern C++ (primarily C++17) software for complex instrumentation systemsBuild Windows applications that interface with devices, boards and specialised hardwareWork with high-speed PCIe and Ethernet data streamingDebug across application code, drivers, interfaces and hardware behaviourDevelop multithreaded, performance-sensitive softwareSupport system integration,



validation and testing within an R&D;/lab environmentWork primarily in Windows, with some Linux developmentWhat We're Looking ForStrong commercial, hands-on Modern C++ experience, ideally C++17+Strong experience developing software in Windows environmentsExperience working close to hardware - instrumentation, devices, boards, embedded systems or similarGood understanding of multithreading, concurrency and performance optimisationStrong debugging and problem-solving skills across complex software/hardware systemsExperience with PCIe, Ethernet, drivers, networking or high-throughput data systems would be particularly relevantContract & Long-Term OpportunityInitial 6-month freelance/autónomo contract, with strong extension potential and clear long-term scope40 hours per weekHybrid working - typically 2 days per week onsite in BarcelonaLong-term, ongoing R&D; programme rather than a short-term projectInterested?
