Whitewater Recruitment is looking for an

AVIT Officer / Junior ETO

to join a large

80m+ motor yacht

with a worldwide cruising programme.

This is a

more junior-level AVIT position , but it is not a role for someone starting completely from scratch. We are looking for someone who genuinely has a passion for AV/IT, already has a good technical foundation and wants the opportunity to develop within the yachting industry.

It could be particularly well suited to a

commercial ETO/AVIT candidate looking to make the move into yachting , or someone from a strong

shoreside AV, IT, networking or communications background

who wants to build a career at sea. Previous yacht experience would be beneficial, but it is

not essential

for the right person.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the vessel's onboard AV, IT and communications systems, including networking, Wi‑Fi, servers, satellite communications, CCTV and entertainment systems. You will also be involved with troubleshooting, software configuration, system documentation, backups and working with external contractors on technical projects.

Although this is being positioned as a junior opportunity, you will need to be

self‑motivated and capable of managing your own workload .



There is a separate ship's electrician onboard.

REQUIREMENTS

Genuine passion for AV/IT and marine technology

Good existing knowledge of networking, IT and AV systems

Experience with systems such as Cisco networking, Windows servers, NAS, Wi‑Fi, CCTV, Starlink/VSAT and entertainment systems advantageous

Commercial maritime, shoreside AV/IT or yacht background considered

Working towards an ETO qualification would be advantageous

Valid STCW certificates

Valid seafarer's medical

Seaman's Book

Valid B1/B2 visa or ability to obtain one

Valid driving licence

Able to work independently and take ownership of the AVIT function

This could be a

very good route into yachting for somebody with the technical ability but who has not yet been given their first opportunity onboard a yacht . We are more interested in finding someone technically switched-on, motivated and keen to learn than somebody with years of yacht experience.
