Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer - T&D; Overhead Transmission Lines to join our growing Transmission & Distribution team. The successful candidate will play a leading technical role in the design and delivery of high-voltage and extra-high voltage overhead transmission line projects worldwide, supporting the expansion, reinforcement and modernization of electrical networks associated with the energy transition.

This position requires extensive experience in overhead transmission line engineering, including route alignment, line design, mechanical and electrical studies, and multidisciplinary coordination. The Principal Engineer will act as a technical authority within the team, leading complex engineering tasks, reviewing design deliverables, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the highest standards of technical quality throughout project delivery.

The role offers the opportunity to participate in major international transmission infrastructure projects across multiple regions and regulatory environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Transmission Line Engineering and Technical Leadership

· Lead the engineering of HV/EHV overhead transmission lines, typically ranging from 110kV to 400kV+

· Develop and review route alignments, tower spotting studies, conductor and earth wire selection, insulation coordination and line clearances.

· Lead advanced modelling and design activities using PLS-CADD.

· Perform and review complex line design studies and ensure compliance with client specifications and industry standards.





· Coordinate with civil teams regarding tower loading requirements and foundation design.

- Transmission Line Calculations and Technical Studies

· Perform and review key electrical and mechanical transmission line calculations, including:

o Sag-tension calculations.

o Conductor blowout studies.

o Electrical clearance verification.

o Thermal ampacity assessments.

o Corona and radio interference studies.

o Shielding and lightning performance evaluations.

o Load tree generation and tower loading analysis.

· Engineering analysis is typically performed using PLS-CADD, TOWER, or PLS-POLE.

- Project Delivery and Coordination

· Lead engineering work packages within multidisciplinary transmission projects.

· Coordinate activities with structural, geotechnical, environmental and power system engineering teams.

· Support project managers in planning engineering activities and managing technical risks.

· Contribute to technical proposals, fee estimates and resources planning.

- Technical Review and Mentoring

· Review drawings, models, calculations and technical reports produced by other engineers.

· Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and senior engineers.

· Promote engineering excellence, best practices and continuous improvement within the team.

· Support the development of internal procedures and technical standards.

- Construction and Site Support

Provide technical support during construction activities, including:

· Tower erection and foundation works

· Conductor stringing operations

· Resolution of site-related technical issues and field design adjustments
