Aperture Tours, an international photography tour company, is seeking skilled professional photographers to lead private photography tours in Barcelona.

About the role

We host private photography tours in cities around the world. Our clients range from complete beginners who have just taken their camera out of the box to experienced amateur and semi-professional photographers looking to discover the best places to photograph a city.

Most of our guests are aged between 40 and 60, and our largest markets are the United States, Canada and Australia. They come from all over the world, but they all share one thing: a genuine passion for photography.

As their guide, you will introduce them to your city through photography, help them get better images from their camera, show them the best locations and provide practical advice on technique, composition and settings. You will be both their local guide and their photography mentor.

The tours are enjoyable and informal, and our clients tend to be interesting, friendly people who are genuinely enthusiastic about photography.

Your responsibilities

- Host private photography tours for up to 4 guests, predominantly for 3 hours
- Teach photography fundamentals including aperture, shutter speed, ISO, manual settings and exposure
- Discuss composition, framing, lighting and photographic technique
- Be comfortable discussing a wide range of photographic styles and approaches
- Know Istanbul well and be able to identify and navigate to interesting photographic locations
- Adapt the tour to the guest's experience, interests and photographic goals
- Provide practical, real-time feedback to help guests improve their photography
- Keep your availability schedule up to date

The idóneo candidate

- Currently works as a professional photographer




- Has at least 2 years of professional photography experience, or a relevant photography degree
- Has a professional photography website and portfolio
- Is proficient in English, particularly in photographic and technical terminology
- Additional languages are an advantage
- Has an outgoing, friendly personality and enjoys working with people
- Is available for flexible, freelance work, including occasional bookings with at least 24 hours' notice
- Is legally able to work as a freelance photographer in their country of residence and provide the required tax/invoicing documentation
- Has a background in street and/or landscape photography; preference will be given to candidates with these skills

Flexible freelance work

This is a flexible, freelance position on an as-needed basis. Our booking system allows you to maintain your own availability, so tours will only be booked on dates when you have indicated that you are free.

This means you can continue with your other photography work while taking on Aperture Tours when it suits you.

The number of tours can vary from a couple to around a dozen per month, depending on demand and your availability.
