Overview

In this role you will strengthen Elasticsearch by building scalable, secure foundational infrastructure and shared features. You’ll drive developer productivity through automation, and help Elasticsearch scale across serverless, cloud, and on‑premise environments. You work cross‑functionally with the ES team and open source communities to improve observability, performance, and extensibility. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role that shapes core platform APIs and tooling for a broad developer audience.

Responsabilidades

- Contribute to core infrastructure projects that underpin Elasticsearch.
- Identify and implement automation to improve developer productivity and integrate agentic apps into workflows.
- Design and implement horizontally scalable features and APIs in Elasticsearch.
- Address performance and concurrency challenges with practical solutions.
- Improve operation and observability for cloud‑based Elasticsearch systems.




- Collaborate openly with the ES team, Elastic users, and related open source projects.
- Support engineers by tackling complex problems and guiding resolution of incidents.
- Own end‑to‑end operational investigations until stability is achieved.

Requisitos principales

- Experience crafting APIs and ability to reason through tradeoffs.
- Proficiency in algorithms and data structures.
- Strong Java skills, including concurrency and modern language features.
- Hands‑on experience with CI/CD systems and practices (Buildkite, Argo CD, GitOps).
- Experience leading large scale projects across engineering teams.
- Ability to own projects from design to delivery and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development and optimize code.
