Overview

As Principal Product Designer for Market Data, you drive the long-term design direction for real-time quotes, charts, watchlists, and visualization systems across Dow Jones brands. You will align design strategy with senior leadership and shape cross-brand patterns in our data platforms, including decisions that impact user engagement and subscription outcomes. Your work balances brand-specific needs with overall platform consistency, solving complex data presentation challenges at scale.

This role offers meaningful impact by elevating how investors read and act on market data across consumer, professional, and enterprise products.

Responsabilidades

Own the design strategy for the Market Data platform across multiple brands (WSJ, Barrons, MarketWatch, IBD) and connect it to measurable outcomes

Present design direction to senior leadership and executives to secure cross-brand alignment

Solve ambiguous problems by developing new patterns for presenting complex financial information

Define market-data patterns in the Index Design System and set standards for charts, tables, and real-time data

Extend influence to professional/enterprise products ensuring a cohesive data experience





Set a high bar for craft in dense financial data (typography, density, motion, accessibility) and ensure quality through reviews

Connect design decisions to engagement, retention, and subscription metrics in collaboration with Research and Analytics

Mentor and grow senior designers, shaping design culture and talent pipeline

Requisitos principales 10+ years of product design experience with systems-level/platform work

Deep expertise in data-rich experiences (financial data, dashboards, visualization)

Portfolio showing strategic impact across brands and cross-team pattern setting

Ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate design strategy into business outcomes

Mastery of data visualization and information design (charts, real-time data, progressive disclosure)

Strong systems thinking and experience with design systems

Excellence in Figma and ability to standardize design communication and documentation

Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and making dense data usable

Mentoring experience and ability to lead through ambiguity

Bachelors degree in Design, HCI, related field or equivalent experience influencing stakeholders mentoring talent collaboration across multi-brand teams data visualization information design design systems
