About the role
Monni is transforming the way it operates. As we prepare to become a licensed Payment Institution, we are redesigning processes, strengthening controls, modernising our systems and automating work that today is still manual.
We are looking for a Business Process & Projects Manager to help build that future operating model.
You will be part of a small Projects, Risk & Compliance team supporting transformation initiatives across the whole company. You will take ownership of cross-functional projects and turn business, regulatory, security and operational requirements into practical processes, systems, controls and automation.
Many of your projects will be driven by regulatory, risk or security requirements. But this is not primarily a compliance role. Your job is not simply to write policies or tell teams what they need to do. You will help design and implement the processes and solutions that make those requirements work in practice.
For example, an AML/KYC requirement might lead you to redesign a merchant onboarding flow and automate checks. A DORA requirement could require new incident-management processes, controls and system integrations. An operational-risk issue might lead to automated monitoring or a redesigned workflow. A manual Finance or Operations process might be simplified and automated altogether.
This is also not a PMO role. You will not simply maintain project plans, organise meetings and report status. You are expected to understand the underlying problem, analyse the existing process, help design the solution and stay involved until it is implemented and working.
Monni is an established, stock-listed payments company with more than 25 years of history, a large installed customer base and healthy cash flow. At the same time, the work ahead requires a strong builder mentality: many processes, systems and ways of working are being redesigned, automated or built from scratch.
If you enjoy environments where the answer is not always already written down, and where you can materially influence how a company will work in the future, this role offers plenty of opportunity to do exactly that.
What you will do
- Take ownership of cross-functional projects from initial problem definition through design, implementation and follow-up.
- Analyse existing business processes and identify inefficiencies, risks, control weaknesses, unnecessary manual work and opportunities for automation.
- Translate business, regulatory, risk and security requirements into clear process and functional requirements.
- Design practical processes, controls, workflows and solutions together with Operations, IT, Finance, Sales, Risk and Compliance.
- Work closely with IT teams on systems, integrations, data flows, workflow automation and implementation.
- Contribute to Monni's programme to become a licensed Payment Institution and to related initiatives such as AML/KYC, DORA, operational risk and information security.
- Define project scope, priorities, responsibilities, deliverables and timelines, and drive decisions and actions through to completion.
- Challenge existing ways of working and propose simpler, more efficient and scalable alternatives.
- Make sure new processes and solutions are properly implemented, documented, tested and adopted.
- Monitor whether implemented solutions work as intended and identify opportunities for further improvement.
About you
You are a structured problem solver who likes understanding how a business works — and how it could work better.
When you encounter a messy process, you want to understand why it works that way, who needs what, where the bottlenecks and risks are, and how it could be simplified or automated.
You are comfortable moving between business requirements, processes, systems and people. You might spend part of your day mapping an operational process with a business team and another part discussing workflows, data or integrations with IT.
You do not need to be a developer, but you should be genuinely interested in how systems work and comfortable discussing technology, workflows, data and automation.
You are also comfortable working in an environment where every process has not yet been perfectly designed and every responsibility is not already documented in detail. You enjoy creating structure and building solutions rather than simply operating within an existing framework.
Most importantly, you take ownership. When given a problem or objective, you work out what needs to happen and drive it through to implementation.
What we are looking for
- Around 3–5 years of relevant professional experience, for example in business analysis, process improvement, internal projects, consulting, internal audit, risk advisory, operations or technology implementation.
- A Master's degree in business engineering, economics, engineering, business administration, technology or a related field is preferred.
- Experience independently driving projects involving several teams or stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand complex processes and translate requirements into practical, implementable solutions.
- Experience analysing and redesigning business processes.
- Strong interest in digitisation, automation and technology.
- Comfortable working with systems, workflows, data and operational processes.
- Able to create structure when the problem is clear but the solution is not yet defined.
- Strong follow-through and a focus on getting things implemented rather than stopping at recommendations.
- Confident working with different stakeholders and able to challenge constructively where needed.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent in English and fluent in either Dutch or French.
Nice to have
Any of the following would be useful, but none are required:
- Experience in payments, financial services or another regulated environment.
- Experience in consulting, internal audit, risk advisory, process improvement or business transformation.
- Exposure to operational risk, compliance, AML/KYC, DORA or other regulatory requirements.
- Experience translating regulatory or control requirements into processes, systems or operational solutions.
- Experience working with IT teams on system implementations, integrations or data flows.
- Experience with workflow automation or low-code tools.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Business Central, Power Platform or similar business applications.
What we offer
This is an opportunity to move beyond analysing problems or making recommendations and take responsibility for actually implementing solutions.
You will work on projects that directly shape how Monni operates and contribute to the next phase of the company's development.
You can expect:
- Real ownership of projects from problem definition through implementation.
- The opportunity to help build the processes, systems and controls of a licensed Payment Institution.
- A broad role combining business analysis, process design, technology, automation and project delivery.
- Exposure to many parts of the company, including Operations, IT, Finance, Sales, Risk and Compliance.
- A small team with short decision lines and direct access to senior stakeholders.
- The opportunity to see the results of your work implemented rather than simply handing over recommendations.
- The stability and resources of an established, stock-listed company combined with the pace and builder mentality of a company undergoing significant transformation.
- The opportunity to develop broad expertise within payments and financial services.
- A multicultural and multilingual working environment.
- A competitive compensation package, depending on your relevant experience, including a company car, CAO90 bonus, hospitalisation insurance and meal vouchers.
- 29 days of holiday per year.
- Work from home is possible, starting with one day per week.
