MacGregor Black is currently partnering with a leading general performance sports brand on the search for a Head of Design.

Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will lead the design function and take ownership of the creative vision, seasonal direction and product design strategy across the brand's performance categories. Working closely with Product, Development, Technical and Commercial teams, you will create innovative products that balance advanced functionality, exceptional quality and a distinctive modern aesthetic.

This is a pivotal leadership role for an ambitious design professional who can evolve a premium performance brand, driving innovation while maintaining the product excellence and consumer connection that have established its reputation within global sport.

Key Responsibilities

- Define and deliver the overall design strategy, ensuring alignment with the wider brand vision, product roadmap and commercial growth plans.
- Lead the end-to-end design process from initial concept and trend direction through to final product execution.
- Develop seasonal design direction, colour strategies and product narratives that strengthen brand identity and consumer appeal.
- Lead, inspire and develop the design team, creating a culture of creativity,



collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Drive innovation across performance products through new materials, technologies, construction methods and design approaches.
- Work closely with Product Development, Technical and Commercial teams to ensure design intent is delivered through to market.
- Translate consumer insight, athlete feedback and market trends into compelling product opportunities.
- Ensure all products deliver the right balance of performance, functionality, aesthetics and commercial viability.
- Build strong relationships with athletes, ambassadors, creative partners and external stakeholders to influence future product development.
- Establish and maintain design standards, processes and best practices across the organisation.
- Present design strategy, seasonal direction and future opportunities to senior leadership.

What Are We Looking For:
- Significant design leadership experience within premium performance sports, outdoor, technical apparel, activewear or adjacent consumer categories.
- A proven track record of leading design teams and delivering innovative product collections for a global audience.
- Strong understanding of technical product creation, including fabrics, materials, construction, fit and performance requirements.
- Experience balancing creative vision with commercial objectives and consumer needs.
- Strong knowledge of global performance, lifestyle and sportswear markets.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across Product, Development, Marketing and Commercial functions.
- Experience developing and mentoring high-performing creative teams.
- A strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and a genuine passion for sport, innovation and product excellence.
