We are looking for a Technical Release Manager in Barcelona, Spain, on a hybrid 3 days a week. You will set the technical strategy and operating model for how hundreds of contributors safely exchange changes while maintaining velocity. This is a senior technical leadership role that requires both deep technical credibility and cross-functional coordination skillsWhat You’ll DoOwn the path from local work to validated availability, including branch strategy, merge policy, propagation, validation, and exception handling across all development lanesSet the lifecycle contract for each development lane: why it exists, what belongs there, how it stays synchronized, conflict resolution, and retirement criteriaDesign and implement the technical systems and policies that enable change management at scale across source control, CI/CD, validation, and release infrastructureSurface dependencies and potential integration collisions early enough for teams to sequence work or knowingly accept rework, then preserve ordering and context as changes move between lanesGive all contributors a clear view of change status, blockers, ownership, and recovery paths, with downstream failures traceable to their sourceImprove conflict detection and target-lane validation; automate routine merge actions, propagation, backports, cleanup, and notificationsStudy how engineers, artists, designers, QA, production, and build teams actually work; then remove unnecessaryceremony, waiting, and specialist dependenciesMeasure flow health metrics and turn incidents and proven manual practices into better policy, tooling, and operationsCoordinate work across Developer Experience, QA, CI/build infrastructure, production operations, and domain teams,



with clear owners and backup coverage for critical operationsMentor and develop junior team members in release engineering and infrastructure practicesWhat We’re Looking ForHighly experienced hands-on engineer with a track record of technical leadership on cross-functional programsStrong background in source control systems, branch strategies, merge queues, and CI/CD infrastructureDemonstrated ability to design and operate technical systems that support development teams at organizational scaleExperience with release management, validation policy, and deployment infrastructure in complex product environmentsExceptional ability to balance speed, stability, and delivery goals while explaining complex tradeoffs to senior leaders and teamsStrong communication and people skills; ability to influence engineers, artists, designers, QA, and production teams without direct authorityProven track record of converting manual, repetitive processes into automated, well-documented systemsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experienceAbility to analyze source control history, diagnose CI and integration failures, and prototype supporting toolingCuriosity about how different disciplines work and habit of finding the real workflow behind technical problemsBonus PointsGame development experience, particularly with Unity or large monoreposExperience with Git LFS, binary/non-mergeable assets, or parallel development mainlinesOperating high-volume merge queues or change systems at substantial organizational scaleMultiple simultaneous live releases or long-term development track experienceExperience with large tightly-coupled products or complex content pipelinesKnowledge of DevOps, build infrastructure, or platform engineeringExperience designing developer productivity and experience improvementsAbout ScopelyScopely is a leading video game and global interactive entertainment company, home to many of the world’s most beloved and enduring experiences,
