As a Backend Engineer within ING’s Platform Ecosystem, you will design, develop, and validate middleware-driven components that power the bank’s platform for the next decade. You collaborate with cross-functional squads to ensure production-ready software, strong quality, and scalable performance. This role emphasizes technical discipline across the stack while shaping the platform’s evolution in a fast-paced, agile environment.

You’ll work on core backend capabilities that enable the wider engineering platform to thrive.

- Java 21 or higher
- Spring (Boot, MVC, Core, Security, Dependency Injection)
- Microservices and hexagonal architecture; patterns like Circuit Breaker, API Gateway, Service Discovery; Feature Flags
- Design patterns, SOLID, Clean Code
- Backend and DevOps awareness of general architecture
- Testing: unit, integration, contract testing; JUnit; Mockito; WireMock; MockMvc; PowerMock

- Docker, OpenShift or Kubernetes
- Ansible
- Git
- DDD
- CI/CD pipelines
- Azure pipelines
- GitHub
- 3 years of experience with similar stack
- Agile experience (Scrum/Kanban/XP)
- Excellent English
