Experteer Overview
As a Staff AI Engineer, you will steer the technical direction of Research Flow and the AI systems that power Typeform’s products. You’ll own complex, cross-team engineering challenges—from architecture to production delivery—connecting AI capabilities into a dependable customer experience. Expect work spanning generative AI, enterprise RAG, and ML pipelines, with hands-on coding and collaboration to raise reliability and scale. You’ll shape foundations for secure, scalable AI at Typeform and mentor others along the way.

• Shape technical direction for Research Flow and AI-enabled study design, conversations, and research synthesis
• Lead architectural decisions across AI-assisted workflows and identify critical constraints
• Define AI data flows and services as products evolve; balance delivery with reliability and maintainability
• Own ambiguous problems from definition to production delivery; prototype and review implementations
• Build reusable AI services and APIs; guide cross-team coordination across Product, Eng, Data Science, and Data Engineering
• Design scalable ML foundations: ML services architecture, pipelines, retrieval, vector search, and model orchestration
• Establish evaluation, benchmarks, monitoring, and safety for AI systems; ensure production quality and cost awareness
• Raise engineering standards: patterns, testing, observability, security, and deployment practices
• Translate customer needs into measurable AI outcomes; communicate risks and trade-offs to partners




• Lead and mentor engineers to grow ownership and judgement; influence decisions beyond own projects

Responsabilidades
• Significant production experience with ML/AI systems and demonstrated technical leadership
• Track record leading complex, cross-team engineering initiatives
• Strong Python and software engineering skills with production code contributions
• Experience designing production services/APIs (e.g., FastAPI)
• Practical experience building generative AI apps with LLMs, RAG, tool usage or agentic systems
• Solid understanding of enterprise RAG (retrieval, chunking, embeddings, reranking, monitoring)
• Ability to define evaluation approaches and use evidence to inform releases
• Experience with PyTorch, LangChain, LangGraph or similar tools
• Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform) and CI/CD
• Familiarity with AWS SageMaker or AWS Bedrock
• Experience with event-driven processing, vector databases, and ML lifecycle tools (Kafka, MLflow)
• Observability tooling experience (Datadog, OpenSearch)
• Judgement to balance speed, quality, reliability, scalability, security, and cost
• Ability to influence technical decisions across teams without formal authority
• Experience mentoring engineers and improving team effectiveness
• Nice-to-have: B2B SaaS, conversational AI, adaptive interviewing, or AI security topics
