Maritime claims handler (P&I;) - Tramitador de siniestros marítimos (P&I;) (inglés como lengua de trabajo)

Responsibilities

Handling claims for P&I; Clubs, ship owners / charterers and container lines

- Liaising with claimants at early stage of the matter and establishing strategy
- Appointing surveyors and monitoring their intervention
- Advising clients on prospects of the matter and reporting on developments (in English)
- Negotiating and settling claims
- Appointing and monitoring lawyers
- Following sanctioning files
- Managing administrative aspect of the files (invoicing, expenses, third parties' fees)

Typical cases include:

- Cargo damage
- Collisions and other maritime accidents, including oil spills
- Personal injury (monitoring hospitalisation / arranging repatriation and handling personal injury claims)
- Charter party disputes
- Stowaways
- Uncleared and abandoned cargoes

Qualifications

Degree on law, nautical studies or transportation and logistics

Experience in claims handling or shipping disputes

Full professional working proficiency in English and Spanish
