Overview

We are seeking an experienced Contract Technical CTO to provide strategic technology leadership and guide the organisation through a critical period of transformation, growth, or modernisation. This role requires a highly credible technology leader capable of operating at board level whilst remaining close enough to delivery teams to drive technical decision-making and execution.

The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong commercial awareness, helping shape technology strategy, modernise platforms, improve engineering capability,



and ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Leadership

- Define and execute the technology strategy and roadmap.
- Assess the current technology landscape and identify risks, opportunities, and improvement areas.
- Provide architectural oversight across applications, infrastructure, cloud, data, and security platforms.
- Establish technology governance, standards, and best practices.

Engineering & Architecture

- Lead architecture reviews and modernisation initiatives.
- Drive engineering excellence through improved processes, automation, and DevOps practices.
- Guide technical teams on solution design, scalability, resilience, and performance.
- Support cloud adoption, migration, and optimisation programmes.

AI & Data Strategy

- Define AI, automation, and data capabilities aligned to business objectives.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI and emerging technologies.
- Ensure responsible adoption of AI solutions and governance frameworks.

Executive Engagement

- Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and senior stakeholders.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes.
- Provide regular updates on technology performance, risks, and investment priorities.




- Build confidence and alignment across business and technical teams.

Technology Transformation

- Lead technology due diligence, platform assessments, or recovery programmes.
- Drive organisational and technical change initiatives.
- Establish operating models that improve delivery effectiveness and business agility.
- Mentor technology leaders and strengthen internal capability.

Experience Required

- Previous CTO, Interim CTO, Chief Architect, VP Engineering, or Technology Director experience.
- Proven track record delivering large-scale technology transformation programmes.
- Strong background across cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Experience leading software engineering and architecture functions.
- Knowledge of AI, data platforms, automation, and modern application development.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at executive level.
- Experience operating within fast-paced enterprise or consulting environments.
