Who We Are
Jewellery Insides is an independent educational media project about the world of jewellery, created within an international consulting group. Since 2024, from our base in Manhattan, New York — with teams in Paris and Monaco — we publish daily briefs and in-depth analysis on diamonds, rare gemstones, and fine jewellery. Our mission is to make expert knowledge open and accessible: our readers range from gemmologists and art historians to appraisers, dealers, collectors, and anyone simply in love with beautiful things.
Every piece we publish draws on crystallography, mineralogy, gemmology, craftsmanship, and art history.
Jewellery is about joy. Knowledge makes it brighter.
Why We're Hiring
Our team is compact, international, and growing — and the operational side of the business has outgrown spreadsheets and good intentions. We are looking for an accountant who will take over the company's everyday finance function: keeping the books in order, making sure everyone gets paid on time, and giving leadership a clear picture of the numbers at any moment.
Important: this is a B2B contractor position, not an employee role. You will work with us under a services agreement as an autónomo professional, invoicing for your work — with all the independence and flexibility that implies.
If you love clean ledgers, tidy processes, and calm, deadline-driven remote work with a warm international team — this role was written for you.
Your Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day bookkeeping: post and categorize transactions, keep the general ledger accurate and current.
- Run AP and AR cycles: receive and process supplier invoices, issue client invoices, track payment status, and chase overdue balances politely but persistently.
- Reconcile bank accounts and payment platforms on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Deliver a monthly reporting pack to leadership: P&L;, balance sheet, cash flow overview, and expense analysis.
- Administer payroll and contractor payouts for a small team spread across several countries and currencies.
- Keep expense management under control: track costs, process reimbursements, and maintain a well-organized digital archive of receipts, invoices, and contracts.
- Assist with budget monitoring: compare actuals to plan and raise flags when numbers drift.
- Liaise with external tax advisors and local accountants; assemble documents for filings and audits when needed.
- Improve and document finance processes, templates, and checklists as the company grows.
- Support the Managing Director with occasional finance-related admin typical of a small international business.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- At least 3 years of practical accounting or bookkeeping experience — bonus points if it was with international or remote-first companies.
- Confident daily user of QuickBooks Online and/or Xero, plus solid Excel or Google Sheets skills.
- Firm grasp of accounting fundamentals: payables, receivables, reconciliations, general ledger, and month-end close.
- Multi-currency experience and international payments know-how will set you apart.
- Currently registered as autónomo in Spain, or willing to register — this engagement runs on B2B invoicing.
- Precision as a personality trait: inconsistencies in numbers bother you before they bother anyone else.
- Self-sufficient working style: you organize your own time and hit monthly deadlines without chasing.
- Working proficiency in English (our team language)
and fluent Spanish for local paperwork.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar is an advantage; extra certifications are welcome but optional.
Bonus Points
- Working knowledge of Spanish tax basics (IVA, IRPF, Modelo 303/130) and experience cooperating with gestorías.
- Familiarity with Wise, PayPal, Payoneer, or digital media / e-commerce business models.
- You've built accounting routines from zero in a small company before.
- Genuine curiosity about jewellery, art, or luxury.
What You Can Expect
- A straightforward B2B setup: monthly invoicing, payment within 15 days.
- Pay: €9–€12 per hour or a fixed monthly retainer of €1,400–€1,800, depending on your background and the scope we agree on. Performance-based rate review after six months.
- A 6-month starting contract that we fully intend to turn into a long-term collaboration.
- 100% remote work from anywhere in Spain — with a time zone that matches our Paris and Monaco teams perfectly.
- A calm, predictable workload and a team that treats people well.
- A direct line to the Managing Director: quick answers, no corporate theatre.
The Hiring Process
Intro call with our People team → practical interview with the Managing Director → a short, paid test assignment (a reconciliation exercise, about an hour) → reference check → offer. Everything happens over video calls.
One important note: we will never request any payment, purchase, or software installation from candidates at any point in the process.
Jewellery Insides is an equal opportunity engager. Every qualified applicant will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.
Applicant data is used exclusively for recruitment purposes. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
