About the role

We are looking for a Commissioning Engineer to take ownership of on-site installation, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting of BESS equipment. You will follow technical standards and site plans to ensure successful system commissioning and restoration.

This role combines commissioning engineering with site management responsibilities – you will act as our Lead Commissioning and Site Manager when required, managing site activities, coordinating teams, and ensuring compliance. The role is also hands-on – you will work directly on equipment, not just supervise.

Key responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning

- Execute installation and commissioning of BESS equipment per process technical requirements and technical standards – working hands-on on electrical connections, testing, and fault finding.
- Perform debugging, testing, and troubleshooting according to technical requirements to restore energy storage system operation.
- Follow site plans and instructions from the Commissioning Leader or Site Manager.
- Prepare site plans and organize installation and commissioning work.




- Complete energy storage technical transformation and maintenance as arranged by the site leader.
- Create commissioning technical plans and manage on-site day-to-day task arrangements.
- Perform start-up and commissioning services at customer locations (SAT – Site Acceptance Testing).
- Lead by example – demonstrate safe working practices and technical competence on the tools.

Site Management (when required)

- Act as Site Manager – take ownership of site activities, coordination, and compliance.
- Manage site inductions, access control, and daily site coordination.
- Supervise subcontractors and site personnel – ensure work is performed safely and to standard.
- Coordinate site logistics – deliveries, equipment storage, and material availability.
- Manage site documentation – permits, RAMS, inspection records, and daily reports.
- Act as the site point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure site activities align with project schedules and milestones.

Operations & Maintenance (when required)

- Deliver high-quality O&M; services for BESS assets, including planned preventative maintenance (PPM), annual capacity tests, and reactive works.
- Maintain Envision Energy Storage Systems to a high standard through PPM checks, capacity tests, and reactive maintenance.
- Independently troubleshoot operational issues with our O&M; service team and technical partners.
- Provide phone support and remote diagnostics to customers as required.
- Troubleshoot equipment located at customer sites.
- Identify areas for improvement and further optimization of systems.
- Manage operational and technical escalations in line with regulatory, contractual, and commercial obligations.

Documentation & Compliance

- Assist in preparing commissioning reports and documentation.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure safety and quality compliance on site.
- Provide feedback for process and design improvement to HQ and engineering teams.
- Keep up to date with administrative duties: time sheets,



daily vehicle checks, and job logs.
- Always work in a safe manner, following RAMS, SHEQ, and CDM guidelines.
- Champion a culture of HSE excellence within your team and across the company.

Cross-functional Collaboration (China HQ)

- Work daily with China HQ R&D; and Product Teams to close operational and product knowledge gaps.
- Communicate technical issues, site findings, and product feedback to engineering teams in China.
- Support knowledge transfer between site execution and product development.
- Assist the in-house system engineering group with product development and project work.
- Provide suggestions based on BESS technical experience to improve products.

Customer Training & Support

- Prepare and deliver customer training at Envision or customer facilities (if required).
- Act as the technical point of contact for customers during commissioning and service activities.
- Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and site personnel.
- Provide pre-sales technical support (if required).
- Provide training and supervision for subcontractors.

Qualification

Must-have

- Relevant occupational certification: CSCS card, IOSH, NEBOSH, or SMSTS (electrical, power electronics, or related discipline based on country specific requirement).
- Holding high voltage electrician certificate and/or low voltage electrician certificate (priority for work).
- Mandarin language skill – to work with China HQ R&D; and Product Teams.
- Strong work ethic and ability to adapt to long-term on-site work.
- Strong communication skills and proficient in office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work 100% on-site and travel between project locations.
- Relevant required certification and qualification.
- Eligible to work in Country without sponsorship.

Advantage

- Mandarin language skill is preferred – to close operational and product knowledge gaps with China HQ R&D; and Product Team.
- Prior experience in BESS, energy storage, or renewable energy projects.
- Experience working with OEMs in a technical capacity.
- Familiarity with energy storage, technical transformation and maintenance activities.
- Additional HES certifications (e.g., first aid, working at height).
- Previous experience as a Site Manager on energy or construction projects.
