Offer Description

We are looking for a highly motivated Immunology graduate to apply for competitive PhD fellowships, including the Ramón Areces Foundation Fellowships for PhD in Life and Matter Sciences and the FPU 2026 Fellowship Programme. To be eligible, candidates should have completed a Bachelor's degree + Master's degree, with a total of more than 300 ECTS, and an academic average grade above 8.5/10.

The PhD project will focus on the immunology of pulmonary sarcoidosis,



a complex inflammatory disease characterized by persistent granuloma formation and variable responses to treatment. The project will combine longitudinal immune profiling of treatment-naïve patients, functional immunology, and single-cell approaches with the development and use of an experimental human 3D granuloma model to investigate disease mechanisms and treatment response. The project is part of a multicentre La Marató de TV3 project involving four hospitals in Barcelona, providing the opportunity to work directly with fresh human samples from sarcoidosis patients.

The candidate will join a dynamic and collaborative research environment at FCRB-IDIBAPS and the University of Barcelona, with expertise in rare disease immunology, functional immunology and 3D disease models, as well as international collaborations and participation in the SARCOIDOMICS Network.
