Overview As Staff Backend Engineer in LeoVegas Sports, you lead the design and evolution of distributed systems that power real-time sports data, trading and pricing for millions of customers. You'll provide technical leadership while staying hands-on to raise engineering standards and balance long-term platform health with business needs. and technical guidance Collaborate with Product, Engineering Managers and Architects to translate problems into practical solutions Contribute to a culture of ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement Requisitos principales Proven experience designing, building and operating distributed systems at scale in production Strong backend Java experience (preferably Java 21+), JVM internals, concurrency and multithreading Hands-on with Reactive Programming and non-blocking systems using Spring Boot and/or Vert.x Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures; familiarity with Redis or NATS Experience with Redis caching and with SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MongoDB) Experience with observability and monitoring platforms (Datadog, Grafana, Kibana) and debugging production incidents Strong system design and architectural decision-making; balancing latency, throughput, consistency and maintainability Ability to influence technical decisions and communicate with engineers, product managers and stakeholders Collaborative mindset Ownership and proactive leadership Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders Java 21+ Spring Boot and/or Vert.x Reactive programming and non-blocking systems
