Job purpose
This role serves as a Legal Assistant within the IOM, contributing to the organization's mission of managing migration effectively and supporting migrants. The purpose is to provide essential legal guidance and support to beneficiaries of the reception resource, ensuring they are informed about their rights and options within Spain. By conducting initial legal assessments, managing case files, and facilitating access to necessary services, the position directly contributes to the protection and well-being of migrants.
The role also involves maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and rights-based approach to migration management.
Responsibilities
Provide individual and group legal guidance to beneficiaries on their rights, obligations, and administrative/legal options in Spain. Conduct initial legal assessments and follow-up interviews to identify specific needs, vulnerabilities, and protection risks. Ensure accurate completion of forms, files, and databases according to standard operating procedures and data protection requirements. Accurately record legal orientations, actions, and referrals confidentially. Prepare periodic reports, statistics, and case summaries for project monitoring and accountability.
