As a Data Engineering Architect in our Barcelona-based team, you will shape the platform’s data foundation to empower products, data science, and agents. You will design, implement, and optimize cloud-based data systems in the lakehouse, catalog, and pipelines, ensuring reliability and rapid innovation. You’ll be a senior hands-on mentor, sharing best practices across the company and guiding data architecture decisions. This role blends cutting-edge technology with a mission to advance life sciences and impact billions of lives.
Compensaciones / Incentivos
• Infrastructure design u0026 management for cloud data platforms
• Hands-on work with AWS data services (Lake Formation, Glue, Athena, EMR/Redshift Serverless) and production-grade data formats (S3 Tables, Iceberg/Delta Lake)
• Build and maintain streaming pipelines (Kinesis/MSK) with exactly-once semantics, windowing, late-arriving data, and backpressure
• Define infrastructure as code (AWS CDK/TypeScript or CloudFormation) and CI/CD for data pipelines (GitHub Actions, Terraform)
• Data modeling (dimensional models, event schemas, slowly changing dimensions) and architecture decisions on normalization vs denormalization
• Governance and security (column-level and row-level access controls, policy-driven data classification)




• ETL/processing with Python or Spark (PySpark/Scala) for data quality and feature extraction
• Exposure to AI/ML tools and frameworks as applicable
• Mentorship u0026 leadership of junior/mid-level engineers; cross-functional collaboration with product management and security
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams to align data foundation with business goals and workflows
Responsabilidades
• 10+ years in data engineering and data pattern roles; SaaS/multi-tenant data platforms experience; mentoring track record
• Strong AWS expertise (VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS, WAF, CloudTrail)
• Expert knowledge of data products on AWS (S3, RDS, DynamoDB, Kinesis, Glue, DataZone, xqbhyrx Athena, Redshift Serverless, EventBridge)
• Containerization u0026 orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
• CI/CD proficiency (ArgoCD, GitHub Actions)
• IaC experience with AWS CDK (TypeScript) and CloudFormation
• Security knowledge (IAM, KMS, encryption, WAF, compliance frameworks like NIST)
• Monitoring/alerting (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, CloudTrail)
• Data u0026 ETL pipelines expertise with AWS Glue, Kinesis, Managed Kafka
• Programming u0026 automation (TypeScript, Bash)
• Multi-account AWS management (Control Tower)
• Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts to stakeholders
