F5 BIG-IP Network & Security Engineer

Service Description

We are seeking an experienced F5 BIG-IP Network & Security Engineer to support a large-scale, multi-site data centre environment.

F5 BIG-IP is a critical component of the organisation's infrastructure, supporting application load balancing, high availability, application security and traffic management.

The successful consultant will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimisation and operational support of F5 networking and security solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Design load-balancing and high-availability architectures.
- Design and implement F5 BIG-IP solutions for application delivery and network traffic management.
- Configure and administer virtual servers, pools, nodes, monitors, iRules, SSL profiles and traffic policies.
- Manage SSL/TLS certificates, SSL offloading, encryption, traffic inspection and reporting.
- Deploy and manage F5 Advanced WAF (AWAF) policies where required.
- Integrate authentication and access-management solutions using F5 APM and enterprise identity services.
- Perform performance tuning, capacity planning and service optimisation.
- Provide support across incident, problem and change management.
- Manage security patching, software upgrades and the lifecycle of F5 infrastructure.
- Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshoot application delivery, connectivity and performance issues.




- Produce technical documentation and operational procedures and provide knowledge transfer to internal stakeholders.

Requirements

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, ICT, Telecommunications or equivalent relevant technical experience.
- Strong conceptual, practical and operational knowledge of IP networking within multi-site and data centre environments.
- Advanced knowledge of F5 BIG-IP, with significant experience designing and implementing F5 solutions within complex enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of IT security concepts, architectures and technologies.
- Experience working alongside enterprise firewall technologies such as Check Point and Palo Alto Networks.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across networking, security and application-delivery environments.
- Ability to work independently and methodically, take ownership and accurately assess technical and operational risks.
- Comfortable operating within business-critical environments where priorities may change due to urgent operational issues.
- Strong communication skills and experience working with technical teams, business stakeholders, suppliers and service providers.
- Willingness to continuously develop and broaden technical knowledge.
- Professional working proficiency in Dutch and/or French and English.
