Outsight is a product studio since 2021, based in Brussels.

We work with ambitious teams to turn complex problems into digital products that actually make sense : for users, for the business, and for the people building them. We bring strategy, UX, UI and technology around the same table, rather than treating them as separate steps in a process.

And we don’t disappear after the handoff. We work closely with our clients over the long run, becoming part of their product team and continuously improving what we build together.

We’re not here to sell more screens, features or development hours. We’re here to understand what deserves to be built, challenge what doesn’t, and make the right things exceptionally well.

We work with very different kinds of organisations.

One week, we might be helping an early-stage startup turn an idea into its first real product. The next, we’re improving the acquisition experience of a scale-up, designing a complex SaaS platform, rethinking an e-commerce journey, or helping a larger organisation make one of its digital products actually make sense.

Startups. Scale-ups. SMEs. Larger organisations. Different industries, different levels of maturity, different problems.

What does UI Designer mean at Outsight?

Your job is to turn product thinking into excellent interfaces

You’ll work from concepts, UX flows, user needs, research and business constraints developed with the rest of the team, and figure out how all of that should actually look, feel and behave.

You won’t be expected to be the researcher, strategist and UX expert all at once. You’ll have people around you whose job it is to bring those perspectives. Your expertise is the interface.

And an interface isn’t a collection of pretty static screens : it moves. It reacts. It changes depending on the content, the device, the user, the state and what happened five seconds before.

So yes, we care about how things look. But we care just as much about how they behave, and whether what you designed can actually be built.

You are a team player, not a lone wolf

You won’t be doing any of that alone in a corner of Figma either. You’ll work closely with UX experts, other designers and developers. Sometimes you’ll receive a pretty clear UX direction and have to find the best way to bring it to life. Sometimes designing it will expose something we hadn’t considered... and we’ll figure it out together.

People will challenge your work. And we expect you to challenge theirs too.

You should be comfortable explaining your decisions to the team and presenting your work to clients, and be able to say "I think we should do it this way, and here’s why" without becoming attached to being right.

Great products rarely come from one person’s genius. They come from smart people making each other’s thinking better.

The kind of designer we’re looking for

First things first: this isn’t a graphic design role disguised as UI design.

Visual creativity matters a lot to us, but we’re looking for someone who already understands the technical craft behind designing digital interfaces.

You have at least 2 years of relevant experience. That doesn’t necessarily mean two years with the perfect job title at the perfect company : serious freelance and personal projects count too.

You know your craft.

We care about the details. Not because perfect Figma files are the end goal,

but because designing interfaces that actually work requires technical rigour.

- You’re very comfortable in Figma : components, variables and Auto Layout aren’t mysterious concepts to you.
- You think about responsiveness while designing, not once somebody asks what happens on mobile.
- You think in components, states, behaviours and edge cases, rather than isolated screens.
- You understand design systems and know how to work within one without being constrained by it.
- You can prototype enough to clearly communicate how an interface should behave.
- You understand UX principles and can turn UX requirements into thoughtful interface decisions.
- You care about the small stuff. Yes, that includes the 4px inconsistency you just spotted.
- You think one step ahead, adding thoughtful details that make developers’ lives easier.
- You can have conversations with developers about implementation. We don’t expect you to be a front-end expert, but you understand that some decisions take five minutes to build and others can take five days.
- You know how to work with existing resources (branding, previous screens, way of working), without having to rebuild from scratch

Advanced prototyping, motion or experimentation with other creative tools? Very welcome, but absolutely not required.

You have creative instincts.

Technical rigour alone isn’t enough. We want someone who cares about the feeling of an interface as much as its internal logic.

- You care about typography, hierarchy, composition and the details that make an interface feel right.
- You notice the little interaction that could make something more satisfying.
- You can come up with an unexpected idea that gives a product personality.
- You explore when there’s room to explore, rather than immediately reaching for the safest solution.
- But you’re perfectly happy using the obvious pattern when reinventing it would only make the product worse.

We’re not looking for someone whose ultimate goal is to make everything look like it belongs on Dribbble. And we’re not looking for someone who applies a design system so religiously that every product ends up looking the same. Know the rules. Know when to break them. And know why. ?

You’re someone we want to think with.

You won’t be designing alone in a corner of Figma. How you work with other people matters just as much as how you work on your files.

- You’re curious. You want to understand what you’re designing before designing it.
- You’re collaborative. You genuinely enjoy building things with UX experts, designers, developers and clients.
- You have opinions, but you’re not precious about them. You can defend your thinking and change your mind when someone brings a better argument.
- You’re pragmatic. You don’t reinvent a checkbox because Tuesday felt a little boring.
- You’re comfortable with variety. Going from SaaS to e-commerce to a mobile product doesn’t scare you
- You care about making products that work in the real world, not just screenshots that look good in a portfolio.
- You like figuring things out. When you don’t know how to do something yet,

your instinct is to explore rather than avoid it.

That last one matters particularly right now : We’re actively experimenting with AI to spend less time on repetitive production work, explore directions faster, prototype ideas and reduce the friction between an idea and something tangible.

You absolutely don’t need to arrive with an elaborate AI workflow. But if your reaction is “I don’t know how to do that yet, but I’d love to figure it out”, we’re probably going to get along ?

What you’ll find at Outsight

- A full-time position.
- A multidisciplinary team where designers and developers actually talk to each other.

- Long-term client relationships that let you see the things you design evolve in the real world.
- People who care about their craft but don’t take themselves too seriously.
- Room to experiment, propose things and challenge how we work.
- A hybrid setup, with minimum 2 fixed days per week together at the office.
- An office in Brussels city centre, just a few minutes from Brussels-Central station.
- Meal vouchers, mobility budget and the benefits
- Compensation adapted to your experience and profile
- An environment where a designer isn’t simply the person who makes things pretty at the end

Our team is mostly French-speaking, but we document our work in English and switch to English when needed. You don’t need to speak French, but you do need to be comfortable working in English.

How to apply

So, send an email at : [email protected]

- tell us about you and why you think you're the candidate we are looking for
- your resume
- a pic of your cat, your dog, or any funny animal you saw lately
- a bit of your work. We love portfolios. We also know how ridiculously time-consuming it can be to build a beautiful portfolio that properly showcases your work, especially when you’re busy actually doing the work. So don’t let that stop you from applying. A polished portfolio is great. A Notion page or a few screenshots of projects you’re proud of are fine too. ;). We’re much more interested in understanding what you worked on, what your role was and how you think than in judging the website you built to present it.

The process

We keep it pretty simple:

1. A call: A first conversation to get to know each other, understand what you’re looking for and tell you a bit more about Outsight.

2. An interview : We’ll dig deeper into your experience, your work and how you approach UI design. And you’ll have plenty of room to challenge us with your own questions.

3. A working session with us : Rather than sending you home with a design test, we’d rather see what it’s actually like to work together during a few hours. We’ll give you a fictional product brief in the morning. You’ll work on it with access to the team, just like you would on a real project. We can have lunch together, you can ask questions along the way, and in the afternoon you’ll walk us through what you made and defend your decisions.

No hidden client work. No free project disguised as recruitment.

It’s as much an opportunity for us to understand how you work as it is for you to experience the team, ask questions and figure out whether Outsight feels right for you.

And because we know people have lives and jobs, we can adapt the schedule or organise the session remotely when needed.
