At Hitachi Energy, we are building and expanding our ES Regional Office (ESOPC) in Madrid, Spain, within the Grid & Power Quality Solutions business in Europe (HBUEU). To strengthen our team, we are looking for an experienced Senior System Engineer with strong background in power electronics, power systems and system simulations. At our competence center “Power Converter Solutions”, we have a leading position in the development, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of high‑power electronic converters mainly for STATCOM and rail power supply systems. With the help of our highly efficient converters, we contribute to the integration of renewable energies into the electrical grid of tomorrow, while also increasing the overall system efficiency.
Design power electronic converter systems including Static Frequency Converters (SFC), Static Compensators (STATCOMs), etc., from sales and tendering phase to project execution, including occasional customer and site visits
Own the system engineering scope throughout project execution, in close collaboration with Sales, other Engineering departments, Project Management, and Service
harmonics, transients), performance calculations, component specifications for sub‑suppliers, control and protection definitions,



and documentation of design activities
Define and evaluate on‑site performance measurements
Contribute to the continuous development of engineering processes by sharing knowledge, participating in conferences and committees
Master’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, with a focus on Power Systems and Power Electronics, combined with solid knowledge in power electronics and/or power systems with relevant experience in the industry
Experience in Matlab/Simulink is a plus
Relevant experience in power electronics and power system simulations
Curiosity and drive for continuous development in both short and long term
Fluent in English; German or additional languages are an advantage
