FIBTRAY® ULTRATECH SOLUTIONS
Industrialization and Tech Development Engineer
Role purpose
Take an active role in and provide technical leadership for the industrialization of Fibtray®, working with machinery and mould manufacturers, other suppliers, and future customers and licensees to take the technology from testing and validation through to industrial-scale production.
This is a highly hands-on role, involving regular time on the factory floor, test follow-up, problem-solving and the development of technical solutions.
Key responsibilities
1. Industrialization and commissioning
• Coordinate and provide technical oversight of the industrialization of Fibtray®, including trials, machinery installation and commissioning, issue analysis and the implementation of solutions.
• Support the industrialization phases of future customers and licensees, both in Spain and internationally.
2. Moulds, forming dies and tooling
• Lead the development, manufacture, validation and implementation of the moulds, forming dies and tooling required for Fibtray®'s different product formats and applications.
• Work directly with manufacturers and suppliers to define specifications and resolve issues throughout development and commissioning.
3. Products, processes and technical data sheets
• Define and maintain the technical specifications for Fibtray® products.
• Carry out and coordinate the testing required to validate products and prepare their technical data sheets.
• Document process parameters, tolerances, materials, quality controls and test results.
4. New project development
• Take an active role in and provide technical leadership for new product, material, process and machinery development projects at Fibtray®.
• Evaluate and test new solutions and technologies that could improve the product or manufacturing process.
5. Materials and barrier solutions
• Evaluate and test different materials,
liners and barrier solutions to determine their compatibility with Fibtray® technology and its various applications.
6. Documentation and knowledge development
• Document industrialization processes in technical reports covering the tests performed, results, issues, solutions and lessons learned.
• Build and maintain a knowledge base so these lessons can be applied to future projects and unnecessary repetition of errors or tests can be avoided.
7. Technical support for customers and licensees
• Provide technical support during pilot trials, approvals and industrialization processes with customers and licensees.
• Define samples, adapt formats and resolve technical issues to facilitate technology transfer.
8. Technical support for business development
• Translate customer and partner needs into technical requirements and validation plans.
• Prepare technical documentation and appendices for proposals, licensing agreements and co-development agreements, including technical due diligence, and support the team in meetings with customers and partners.
• Build and maintain a technical opportunity-prioritization matrix covering technical fit, investment requirements and time to industrialization.
Candidate profile
Education
• Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Process or Materials Engineering, or equivalent technical training.
Experience
• Experience in industrialization, manufacturing processes, product development or machinery commissioning.
• Experience working with industrial suppliers and manufacturers of machinery and/or moulds.
• Experience in packaging, materials processing, forming, lamination, heat sealing or related processes will be an advantage.
Technical knowledge
• Industrial machinery and processes.
• Moulds, forming dies and tooling.
• Manufacturing and industrialization processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Ability to conduct and analyze trials and tests.
• Knowledge of barrier materials and food packaging will be an advantage.
Other requirements
• Based in the Valencian Community.
• Willingness to travel within Spain and internationally, particularly during testing and industrialization phases.
• Valid driving licence and own vehicle.
• Ability to work independently and take a hands-on approach in a startup environment.
• Ability to coordinate directly with suppliers, manufacturers and customers.
• Languages: fluent Spanish and English.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone driven, technically strong and hands-on: a person who can move confidently from documentation and design to the factory floor and real-world product trials. Someone who can understand a machine, work alongside a mould manufacturer, identify why a process is not performing as it should, and develop practical solutions.
This role will be central to strengthening Fibtray® technology and preparing it for deployment with new customers and in new markets internationally.
We want to meet you
We are not looking for a perfect CV. We want to meet someone who can show us what they have built, explain a tough industrial problem they have solved, and tell us why they want to use their talent to take Fibtray® to the next level.
If you read this challenge and thought, 'This is for me,' let's talk.
