Are you ready to shape the future of energy?At Hitachi Energy, we are building and expanding our ES Regional Office (ESOPC) in Madrid, Spain, within the Grid & Power Quality Solutions business in Europe (HBUEU).To strengthen our team, we are looking for an experienced Senior System Engineer with strong background in power electronics, power systems and system simulations. If you want to work at the forefront of energy technology in a motivated, global engineering environment, this role is for you.At our competence centre "Power Converter Solutions", we have a leading position in the development, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of high‑power electronic converters mainly for STATCOM and rail power supply systems. We also provide solutions for hydro pump stations and grid interties. With the help of our highly efficient converters, we contribute to the integration of renewable energies into the electrical grid of tomorrow, while also increasing the overall system efficiency.How you’ll make an impact- Design power electronic converter systems including Static Frequency Converters (SFC), Static Compensators (STATCOMs), etc., from sales and tendering phase to project execution, including occasional customer and site visits- Own the system engineering scope throughout project execution, in close collaboration with Sales, other Engineering departments, Project Management, and Service- Perform system design tasks such as simulations (e.G., harmonics, transients), performance calculations, component specifications for sub-suppliers, control and protection definitions,
and documentation of design activities- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, customer specifications and grid codes- Identify risks and opportunities, proposing effective mitigation measures- Work closely with R&D teams on system design and modelling of converter systems- Define and evaluate on‑site performance measurements- Contribute to the continuous development of engineering processes by sharing knowledge, participating in conferences and committeesYour background- Master’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, with a focus on Power Systems and Power Electronics, combined with solid knowledge in power electronics and/or power systems with relevant experience in the industry- Experience in hydropower or railway sector is a strong plus- Experience in Matlab/Simulink is a plus- Relevant experience in power electronics and power system simulations- Eagerness to take responsibility for deliverables,
