As Staff Software Engineer on the Search team in Barcelona, you will architect and implement real-time search APIs and semantic retrieval systems serving millions of users. You lead engineering decisions, mentor engineers, and partner with Product and Brand stakeholders to raise search quality. You'll embrace AI-assisted development to accelerate delivery and improve code quality. This role offers impact across products and platforms, shaping how users discover content at Dow Jones.

Responsabilidades
Design, build, and operate Search APIs and semantic search systems delivering relevant content at scale
Lead semantic retrieval and ranking pipelines, including embeddings, vector indexing, and relevance tuning
Act as technical lead for the Search team, steering architecture decisions and engineering standards




Collaborate with Product Managers and Brand partners to define search quality goals and measure impact
Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance to foster learning
Champion AI coding agents (Claude Code and similar tools) to increase development velocity and quality
Manage infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and Chef; maintain CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins
Containerise and deploy services with Docker and Kubernetes for reliability and efficient releases
Own reliability and observability of Search services, define SLOs, dashboards, and incident processes
Drive improvements in engineering processes and developer experience via awareness of industry trends
