In this role you will lead the Latin America macroeconomic analysis within Santander’s Economic Research Area, shaping the regional view and linking it to the Group’s global outlook. You will coordinate cross-country insights, develop independent economic theses, and design scenarios used in planning and stress-testing. You’ll translate complex trends into clear messages for senior management and collaborate with multiple stakeholders across geographies. This is an opportunity to influence strategic decisions through rigorous analysis and innovative methods.
Responsabilidades
Coordinate macroeconomic analysis of Latin America and integrate local perspectives into a regional view aligned with the global outlook
Develop and maintain an independent economic view of Latin America highlighting main trends, risks and opportunities
Design, prepare and monitor macroeconomic scenarios for planning, budgeting and stress-testing in collaboration with local teams
Analyze regional economic, financial and political developments and assess implications for Santander
Ensure consistency and quality of forecasts, challenging assumptions when needed
Serve as coordination point between regional Economic Research teams and corporate areas to integrate regional and integral views
Prepare reports, presentations and briefings for senior management and committees, translating complex issues into clear messages
Contribute to cross-functional projects with a Latin American perspective in planning and risk management
Drive methodological and tool/process improvements for economic analysis and scenario development
Promote use of AI, automation and data analysis to enhance productivity and quality of work
Mentor and develop team members through knowledge transfer and guidance
Represent Banco Santander in forums and events on Latin America
Requisitos principales
Solid experience in macroeconomic analysis, forecasting, scenario design and coordination or macro-financial risk assessment
Experience preparing, challenging and defending macroeconomic forecasts and scenarios
Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder projects across geographies
Experience in economic research environments, financial institutions, central banks, or academia
Knowledge of Latin American economies and trends (preferred)
Bachelor’s degree in Economics or related disciplines
Postgraduate xqbhyrx degree (Master or PhD) preferred
High level of Spanish and English; Portuguese (preferred)
Strong knowledge of macroeconomics, international economics and emerging markets
Strong econometrics and quantitative methods for forecasting and modeling
Experience in applied economic analysis and scenario development
Proficiency in Python, R, Matlab or Stata; programming skills (preferred)
Familiarity with AI and automation tools in economic analysis (preferred)
Analytical ability and sound judgment
Ability to synthesize information and communicate complex messages
Global perspective and integration of analyses across countries
Macroeconomics and international economics
Econometrics and quantitative forecasting methods
Scenario design and macro-financial risk assessment
