Overview

As Senior Cost Planner, you will oversee financial planning, forecasting, governance, and cost control across technology and business programmes. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Finance, Procurement, and Portfolio teams to deliver insights and steer investment decisions in Capex and Opex. You’ll drive accuracy, compliance, and efficiency through robust analysis, dashboards, and automation. This role offers the chance to shape financial governance across multi‑million‑pound portfolios and improve decision support. Responsabilidades

- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and month-end activities across multiple portfolios
- Develop and maintain financial plans covering Capex, Opex, capitalised overheads, and resource costs
- Monitor spend vs budget, identifying risks, opportunities, and corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and governance requirements; manage funding, accruals, recharges, and investment tracking
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Delivery,



and Finance to provide financial reporting and insight; track costs against funding and investment plans
- Analyse variances, trends, and cost drivers; provide recommendations to leadership
- Act as SME for Capex, Opex, and capitalisation policies; maximise value and compliance
- Produce dashboards, reports, and executive presentations; drive reporting automation and improvement
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve financial controls; lead automation initiatives
- Build relationships across Finance, Product, Engineering, Delivery, and Procurement; influence senior stakeholders
- Mentor and support other Cost Planners; share best practices across the team

Requisitos principales

- Strong experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management
- Good understanding of Capex, Opex, capitalisation, and financial governance
- Experience supporting large technology, engineering, or transformation portfolios
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to present financial information clearly to senior stakeholders
- Experience using accounting systems (e.g., SAP/Oracle) and reporting tools
- Track record of driving process improvement and automation
- Experience managing budgets exceeding 50m
