The Role
As a Boat Builder within our Service department, based in Barcelona (Port Premià), you will play an important role in maintaining, repairing and refitting Oyster yachts. Working alongside experienced specialists, you will carry out high-quality carpentry, joinery, boatbuilding and GRP work across a varied range of yacht maintenance and service projects.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong practical skills, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for quality craftsmanship. You will work closely with the wider Oyster Service team to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the exceptional standards expected of Oyster Yachts.
Key Job Responsibilities
• Independently assemble and install interior and exterior components and fittings on luxury sailing yachts
- Carry out construction, installation, repair and maintenance work both inside and outside yachts
- Undertake skilled carpentry, joinery and boatbuilding work using wood, GRP and metal
- Prepare, sand and finish wooden surfaces to a high professional standard
- Carry out GRP and woodworking tasks as required
- Work confidently from technical drawings, plans and specifications
- Use woodworking machinery, power tools and hand tools safely and effectively
- Undertake a wide range of carpentry, boatbuilding and shipyard-related activities as required
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness and safety throughout all work
- Work collaboratively with the wider Oyster Service team to ensure projects are completed to a high standard and customer expectations are met
About You
• Proven professional experience within the yachting or marine industry
- Strong practical skills and comprehensive knowledge of woodworking, timber processing, carpentry and joinery
- Experience carrying out construction, installation, repair and maintenance work on yachts or boats
- Confident and experienced use of woodworking machinery, power tools and hand tools
- Ability to work confidently from technical drawings, plans and specifications
- Knowledge of GRP, plastics processing, surface preparation and finishing techniques
- High level of attention to detail, precision and quality awareness
- Reliable, professional and committed approach to work
- Good spoken and written Spanish / English
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude, enthusiasm and a strong commitment to teamwork
Qualifications & Desirable Experience
• Completed vocational training or recognised qualification in Carpentry, Joinery, Boatbuilding or a related trade
- Previous experience working on luxury sailing yachts
- Experience across both carpentry/joinery and GRP work
