Design Manager – Data Centre - Client-Side

Location: Zaragoza, Spain

Contract: Until January 2030

Rate: €550 per day

We are looking for an experienced Design Manager to join the client-side delivery team on a major hyperscale data centre development in Zaragoza.

This is a long-term contract running through to January 2030 , offering the opportunity to take ownership of design coordination across a complex, technically demanding project.

The position will have a strong MEP focus , acting as the key interface between the client, general contractor, specialist contractors and external design houses.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing and coordinating the design process from the client side, ensuring the design is technically compliant, coordinated, buildable and aligned with the overall project programme.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Lead client-side design management across the project, with a primary focus on mechanical and electrical systems
- Manage and coordinate the General Contractor, design houses and specialist consultants
- Drive multidisciplinary design coordination across MEP, CSA and architectural packages
- Review design deliverables, technical submissions and contractor proposals
- Manage RFIs, design changes, technical queries and design approvals
- Identify design clashes,



gaps and constructability issues before they impact site delivery
- Ensure design information is released in line with the construction programme
- Coordinate between engineering, construction, commissioning and commercial teams
- Chair design coordination meetings and drive actions through to close-out
- Monitor design progress against key project milestones
- Protect the client's technical requirements throughout design and construction

The Candidate We are looking for someone with:

- Strong Design Management experience on major construction or engineering projects
- Excellent understanding of MEP systems and coordination
- Data centre, mission-critical, pharmaceutical, semiconductor or similarly complex project experience
- Experience managing contractors, consultants and external design houses
- Strong understanding of the relationship between design, procurement, construction and commissioning
- Ability to challenge contractors technically and drive decisions
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Previous client-side experience would be highly advantageous

Package €550 per day + €2,000 per month expenses
