About the Role

As a Senior GIS Product Engineer, you will design and deliver Xoople's geospatial Data & AI products, enabling scalable and efficient access to Earth observation data. Combining GIS, remote sensing and data engineering expertise, you will build the cloud-native platform, services and map interfaces that turn complex spatial data into reliable, accessible products for advanced analytics and AI-driven use cases. This hybrid/remote role may be based in Spain or the UK.

Impact You Own

- Enable scalable geospatial data products by designing architectures that support efficient and scalable access to Earth observation data.
- Build and operate the serving layer that makes the archive usable, including STAC catalogue and search, dynamic raster tiling, and vector tile pipelines.
- Develop and maintain robust GIS applications, tools and interactive map interfaces using cloud-native and ESRI-based technologies.
- Design and optimise geospatial data models, workflows and spatial analysis capabilities, including the freshness, completeness and lineage metrics that make a data product trustworthy.
- Contribute to product innovation and R&D;,



including putting AI models into production over the archive and emerging remote sensing capabilities.
- Support interoperability across Xoople's data ecosystem and with the tools our customers already use, ensuring reliable, observable and secure operation.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business needs into impactful technical solutions, and evaluate emerging GIS, cloud and AI technologies to apply them pragmatically to the platform.

What We’re Looking For

- Proven experience developing geospatial Data & AI products or GIS solutions across the full product lifecycle, owning technical delivery from design through to production operation.
- Hands-on experience building interactive geospatial visualisations and web mapping applications using ESRI or open-source technologies (MapLibre GL JS, deck.gl, OpenLayers, CesiumJS).
- Experience designing and operating raster and vector tiling solutions using COG, Zarr, STAC, TiTiler, PostGIS or similar technologies, with sound judgement on dynamic versus pre-rendered tiling and its caching and cost consequences.
- Strong understanding of OGC standards, including OGC API, WMS, WFS, WMTS and WCS, as well as XYZ tile schemes, STAC API and CQL2 filtering.
- Strong expertise in geospatial analysis, spatial data structures, algorithms and geospatial data modeling, including spatial indexing and coordinate reference system handling.
- Solid programming skills in Python and SQL applied to geospatial processing, APIs and data platforms (GDAL/OGR, rasterio, GeoPandas, xarray, PostGIS, FastAPI).




- A pragmatic, expert-level approach to AI-assisted and agentic development tools, holding the same quality bar as hand-written work.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills gained in cross-functional, international teams.
- A degree in Computer Science, Geography, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
