The Role
As a Senior Technician / Engineer within our Service department, based in Barcelona (Port Premià), you will play an important role in supporting the maintenance, repair and refit of Oyster yachts up to 90 feet. Working across a wide range of marine steering, propulsion, mechanical and plumbing systems, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality servicing, repairs and refit work to the exceptional standards expected of Oyster Yachts.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong marine engineering knowledge, practical problem-solving skills and a proactive approach. You will work closely with the wider Oyster Service team to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Job Responsibilities
• Service and repair marine steering systems, including dropping rudders, replacing rudder bearings and comprehensive steering system servicing
- Carry out propulsion system works including removing propeller shafts, servicing propellers, replacing cutlass bearings, shaft seals, thrust bearings and flexible bearings
- Overhaul and refit engine rooms, including engine replacements and basic servicing of marine engines
- Service and replace seacocks and carry out servicing and maintenance of marine pumps
- Carry out mechanical maintenance,
repairs and refit activities across Oyster yachts
- Produce accurate technical reports and maintain clear communication with team members and relevant stakeholders
- Organise workload effectively and ensure agreed work schedules and deadlines are strictly maintained
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness and safety throughout all activities
- Work collaboratively with the wider Oyster Service team to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to the required standards
About You
• Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience within the marine engineering sector
- Strong practical knowledge and experience across marine steering, propulsion, mechanical and plumbing systems
- Proven experience servicing, repairing and refitting marine systems on yachts or boats
- Strong mechanical engineering and practical problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail, precision and commitment to high standards of workmanship
- Ability to organise your own workload and work effectively to agreed schedules and deadlines
- Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish
- Proactive, self-motivated and able to work effectively under pressure
- Reliable, professional and committed approach to work
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude with a strong commitment to Oyster’s “one team” family philosophy
- Tidy and organised approach, with pride in maintaining a clean and professional working environment
Qualifications & Desirable Experience
• Experience in metal fabrication and machining
- Experience carrying out GRP repairs
