We are an international company in the water sector, currently experiencing strong growth, with a highly skilled team and an excellent working environment. We are now looking for a Technical Coordinator to join our team in Madrid.
What will the role involve?
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate the technical aspects of water treatment bids and projects, ensuring effective integration across process, mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and control disciplines.
- Plan, track, and prioritize engineering deliverables, reviews, and milestones, ensuring full traceability of decisions, comments, and changes.
- Review tender documentation, RFPs, technical specifications, design criteria, mass balances, PFDs/P&IDs;, layouts, equipment lists, and supplier documentation.
- Coordinate interfaces and battery limits between clients, EPC contractors, technology providers, suppliers, advisors, and internal teams.
- Prepare and consolidate technical clarifications, bid comparisons, compliance matrices, risk assessments, deviations, exclusions, and close-out actions.
- Lead coordination meetings and multidisciplinary reviews, preparing minutes, assigning action owners, and setting target deadlines.
- Support the technical and economic evaluation of alternatives, promoting safe, reliable, maintainable, and cost-competitive solutions.
- Support technical negotiations for EPC contracts, WTA/O&M; agreements, performance guarantees, testing, commissioning, and acceptance processes.
- Provide technical support during project execution,
commissioning, and start-up, helping to resolve technical issues and implement corrective actions.
- Contribute to standardization, lessons learned, technology monitoring, and the continuous improvement of engineering processes.
- Carry out technical due diligence reviews of existing facilities.
What are we looking for?
Requirements:
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and translate contractual requirements into clear, verifiable actions and deliverables.
- Knowledge of water treatment plants, reverse osmosis desalination, and/or wastewater and industrial water treatment.
- Strong ability to review technical documentation, manage interfaces, analyze risks, and solve problems in a structured manner.
- Strong planning, prioritization, communication, and follow-up skills, with a focus on deadlines, cost, quality, and performance.
- Sound technical judgment to identify inconsistencies, raise clarifications, and propose practical solutions.
- Willingness to work with international teams and travel occasionally to project sites, clients, or suppliers.
Education:
- Degree in Industrial, Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or another relevant Engineering discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification or master’s degree in project management, water treatment,
infrastructure, or a related technical field will be considered an asset.
Experience:
- Recommended minimum professional experience of 10 years in engineering, bid preparation, or the execution of industrial projects.
- At least 5 years in technical coordination or multidisciplinary leadership roles.
- Valuable experience in desalination, water reuse, treatment plants, hydraulic infrastructure, and international EPC/BOOT projects.
Languages:
- Spanish: full professional proficiency.
- English: minimum C1 level for meetings, negotiations, and technical documentation.
- Additional languages related to the company’s target geographies will be considered an asset.
Other:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 and document review and tracking tools.
- Experience with AutoCAD/Navisworks, BIM tools, MS Project/Primavera P6, and document management platforms will be considered an asset.
- Key competencies: collaborative leadership, attention to detail, autonomy, anticipation, negotiation, results orientation, and clear communication.
