Duty Free Dynamics

Barcelona

About Us: Duty Free Dynamics (DFD) is a company specializing in the distribution of premium brands through the general travel retail channel. Headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, DFD operates with regional commercial offices and logistics platforms covering the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. The company’s new business approach is centered on strengthening control over its retail operations through various global partnerships.

Commercial Department The Commercial Department is responsible for understanding and addressing the needs of DFD’s retail operators and franchisees, ensuring the successful distribution and positioning of its brands.

This team acts as the primary link between the company’s brands and its clients, leveraging internal and external communication touchpoints to build strong, long-lasting relationships.

Business Development Analyst The Business Development Analyst plays a key role in identifying and qualifying growth opportunities for the company, combining strategic market research with structured prospection tracking and hands-on support to the commercial team. The role works closely alongside the team members responsible for first outreach with potential brands and clients — ensuring every lead is properly mapped, followed up, and advanced through the pipeline with the right data and materials to support decision-making. The position also contributes to the preparation of strategic analyses that guide DFD’s expansion into new partnerships, channels, and markets.

Key Responsibilities

Market Research & Opportunity Identification

- Research and map potential new brand partners and retail clients aligned with each DFD’s portfolio strategy and geographic expansion priorities.

- Conduct competitive benchmarking and market analysis within the travel retail sector to identify white spaces and growth levers.
- Analyze category trends, channel dynamics, and emerging business models in duty-free and travel retail to support the development of new commercial propositions.
- Prepare strategic briefings, market entry assessments, and opportunity profiles to support senior commercial decision-making.

Prospection Pipeline & Follow-Up

- Maintain and update the business development pipeline, tracking all potential brand and client leads from initial identification through to first commercial engagement.
- Work closely with the commercial team members leading first outreach, ensuring follow-up actions are documented, prioritized, and executed on time.
- Prepare introductory materials, company profiles, and pitch documents to support first meetings and calls with prospective partners.
- Consolidate interaction outcomes and pipeline status into structured reports and dashboards for Commercial Management review.
- Coordinate and manage the agenda for business development activities, including outreach calls, partner meetings, trade fairs, and key commercial milestones.

Commercial Support

- Assist in the preparation of business cases and commercial proposals for new brand agreements and distribution partnerships.
- Track the progress of new business initiatives from identification through to signed agreement, flagging risks and dependencies to the Commercial Director.

- Ensure all BD interactions and agreements are captured in the CRM with accurate status, contact details, and next steps.

Functional Interactions:

- Commercial Management: Strategic alignment, opportunity prioritization, and BD pipeline reporting.
- Commercial Team (Prospection): Day-to-day coordination on first outreach activities, lead qualification, and pipeline structuring.
- Regional Managers: Identification of new opportunities within each territory and support in expanding the regional client and brand base.
- Finance: Financial modeling and preliminary margin assessment for new business opportunities.
- Marketing: Brand positioning input and co-development of materials for prospective partner presentations.

Candidate Profile

- Background in Business Administration, International Trade, Economics, or related fields.
- 2–4 years of experience in business development, commercial strategy, or a similar role with exposure to prospection and market analysis.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex market information into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Highly organized, with a natural ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate agendas, and follow through on commitments.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM tools; familiarity with data visualization or BI platforms is an asset.
- Curious, proactive, and entrepreneurial mindset — comfortable navigating ambiguity and identifying opportunities in new or unfamiliar markets.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Fluent English (essential); Spanish
- Experience in Travel Retail, FMCG, or premium/luxury brand environments is a strong plus.
