Do you build backend systems that hold up when things get messy, and know how to use AI tools to move faster while you do it? This one's for you.

About the company Picture the gap between "we have data" and "we canactually use it. " That's the problem this team solves. They're building the infrastructure that lets developers ingest data at scale, query it with the SQL they already know, and ship it as fast, low-latency APIs, turning what used to take days into minutes. This isn't a team building on top of existing tools either: they contribute directly to core database technology. Remote-first by design, with a Madrid hub for when being in the same room just gets things done faster.
About the role Day-to-day:
- Build systems that don't break under pressure: design and operate distributed, high-volume services at the heart of the product
- Live close to production: debug real incidents, sharpen observability, make things more resilient with every fix
- Know when to sprint and when to slow down: speed matters, but not at the cost of stability when it counts
- Run with ambiguity:
make real progress even before every detail is defined
- Work with AI as a teammate: Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT and similar tools are woven into how this team actually builds, not a checkbox
- Take your turn on-call: not just firefighting, but staying genuinely close to what breaks and why
What you'll need:
- Strong, battle-tested Python experience (this one's non-negotiable)
- A track record with backend services, distributed systems, or high-traffic production environments
- Solid SQL instincts and real curiosity about real-time analytical systems
- Async communication that's actually clear, this team documents everything and moves fast because of it
- Fluent in English and Spanish
Who should apply? You're the one who stays level-headed when something breaks at 2am, not because you enjoy the chaos, but because you're good under it. You think in trade-offs, not absolutes, and you'd rather ship something solid than perfect-but-late. Bonus points if you've touched open-source database engines or built real-time analytics infrastructure before.
