The Service & Team: Private Sector Housing sits within Regulatory Services, alongside Public Protection, Trading Standards and Waste, forming a key part of the Council’s approach to protecting communities and improving quality of life. The team is responsible for upholding high standards of health, safety and welfare across the private rented sector, tackling poor housing conditions, regulating Houses in Multiple Occupation, and addressing the long-term impacts of empty homes through a combination of inspection, education and enforcement. The Renters Rights Act is expanding our remit and strengthening our opportunity to make a meaningful impact. The Role:This is an exciting opportunity to join Cornwall Council's Private Sector Housing Team,



supporting the delivery of vital housing standards work that helps improve the safety, health and well-being of residents across Cornwall. Working alongside experienced Environmental Health and Housing professionals, you will play a key supporting role within the team, undertaking property inspections, investigating housing complaints and potentially assisting with tenancy relations and enforcement activities. This may include gathering evidence, carrying out revisit inspections and supporting interventions that improve conditions in the private rented sector.You will receive training, support and valuable on-the-job experience, providing a clear development pathway for those looking to build a long-term career in housing regulation, housing enforcement or Environmental Health.
