ABOUT THE ROLE

We have two positions open, and the volume of work through the site is what drives both. You are the technical decision point for the assets you handle: you assess what has arrived, sanitise the data on it, decide whether it is refurbished, harvested for parts or broken down, and carry the work through to a unit that is either ready to redeploy or properly destroyed.

The work spans hardware, operating systems, applications, networking and asset records, so no two days look the same. It is a technical role in a workshop environment, not a warehouse job with a screwdriver attached. You will report to the ITAD Operations Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

ASSESSMENT AND DATA SECURITY

- Assess each returned asset, identify its hardware and software configuration and determine the technical path: redeploy, refurbish, harvest or destroy.
- Carry out secure data erasure and sanitisation to NIST 800-88 using Blancco, including degaussing and physical destruction of hard drives and solid state drives where erasure is not appropriate.
- Maintain the Blancco erasure reports and the evidence trail behind every certificate

OPERATING SYSTEMS, SOFTWARE AND NETWORKING
- Install, image, configure and troubleshoot Windows and macOS builds.
- Maintain standard images,



driver sets and application packages so each asset class deploys cleanly, and install the software required on refurbished assets.
- Configure and verify network hardware and connectivity on redeployed equipment, and maintain the network setup in the test environment.

TESTING, FAULT FINDING AND REPAIR

Test and diagnose faults across desktops, laptops, mobile devices, servers and networking equipment, work out whether a fault is hardware, software or configuration, and repair or replace components and peripherals.

ASSET RECORDS AND CUSTOMER SUPPORT

Receive, test and track every unit accurately at serial and IMEI level in our ITAD asset management system, including stocktake, and keep the asset catalogue accurate.

Respond to internal and customer enquiries on hardware, software and asset condition, and attend customer sites to collect, deploy or relocate IT hardware.

Work to our documented process every time and take responsibility for the quality assurance of your own work.

HIGHLY REGARDED

Experience with Blancco or an equivalent certified erasure platform.

Level 2 or higher IT technician experience, or vendor certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft, Apple or networking.

IT asset disposition, e-waste or electronics reprocessing experience.
