As a Senior Financial Controller you will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and efficiency. Your expertise in accounting, reporting, and tax compliance will help drive strategic decision-making while ensuring alignment with internal controls and regulatory standards. You will work cross-functionally with teams across the organization to optimize financial workflows, enhance reporting accuracy, and implement best practices.
Additionally, you will lead and mentor a small accounting team, fostering a high-performance environment.
This role is based in Girona and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee general ledger maintenance and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes in compliance with Spanish, Luxemburg and French GAAP
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes
- Prepare and review statutory financial statements
- Ensure timely and accurate internal financial reporting to management and stakeholders
- Coordinate with auditors for annual audits and interim reviews
- Oversee corporate tax, VAT, and other tax filings, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations
- Act as the main point of contact for tax authorities and external tax advisors
- Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the business
- Ensure proper cash flow management and optimize working capital
- Supervise bank reconciliations and treasury transactions
- Support in FX risk management and banking relationships
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial integrity
- Ensure compliance with internal audit requirements
- Drive automation and efficiency improvements in financial processes
- Work closely with FP&A; to ensure accurate financial planning and forecasting
- Collaborate with legal and compliance on financial and regulatory matters
- Support operational teams with financial insights related to accounting and tax
- Exposure to FP&A; (even though the focus is on accounting and reporting)

Skills &
- Behaviours
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of ES and/or Lux GAAP
- Experience with tax compliance (corporate tax, VAT, and regulatory reporting)
- Experience with consolidation, multi-entity structures, and intercompany transactions
- Experience in audit coordination and working with external auditors
- Proficiency in financial reporting tools and ERP systems (e.g., Netsuite, Odoo or similar)
Soft skills &
- Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure financial accuracy
- Excellent stakeholder management (working with auditors, tax advisors, and senior leadership)
- Ability to implement and improve internal controls and financial processes
- Experience managing deadlines in fast-paced environments
- Fluent in English
- French is a plus
Team leadership & management
- Lead, mentor, and oversee the work of three accountants
- Ensure proper task allocation,
training, and development of the accounting team
- Review and validate monthly, quarterly and annual closing performed by the team
- Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance
Nice to have
- Experience in a regulated financial services company
- Knowledge of treasury and cash flow management
Requirements Experience &
- Background
- 8+ years of experience in finance/accounting roles
- 3-5 years of Audit experience (Big 4 preferred) or strong exposure to audits in a corporate role
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller or Head of Accounting. Experience gained in a financial services or regulated environment is a plus
- Experience managing and mentoring a small accounting team (ideally 3+ accountants)

- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
