Sales Manager / Senior Sales Manager – Power Transmission & Distribution
Organization: Hyosung Spain, Madrid Office
Location: Madrid, Spain
Market coverage: Spain and Portugal
Reporting to: Head of Madrid Office
About Hyosung Heavy Industries
Hyosung Heavy Industries is a general manufacturer and solution provider in power transmission and distribution. Our portfolio includes large power transformers, gas-insulated switchgear and eco-friendly GIS, high-voltage circuit breakers, STATCOM and power-quality solutions, HVDC, and energy-storage solutions.
Spain is one of our strategically important European markets. We are continuing to expand our business with utilities, transmission and distribution operators, EPC contractors, renewable-energy companies, industrial customers and infrastructure developers across Spain and Portugal.
We are looking for a Sales Manager / Senior Sales Manager to help drive the next stage of our growth in Iberia.
About the Role
This is an opportunity for a technically knowledgeable, commercially driven professional to develop key customer relationships and lead complex sales opportunities in the power transmission and distribution sector.
Reporting directly to the Head of Madrid Office, you will work closely with our local project-management team, headquarters, product divisions and factories in Korea. You will contribute to our commercial strategy for Spain and Portugal while taking hands-on responsibility for business development, account management and the sales process through to contract award.
This is initially an individual-contributor role, without direct people-management responsibility. The final title and level will reflect the selected candidate’s relevant experience, commercial track record, customer relationships and overall profile.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop customer relationships and new business: Build and strengthen relationships with utilities, grid operators, EPC contractors and major industrial and infrastructure customers across Spain and Portugal. Identify, qualify and develop new commercial opportunities.
- Lead complex sales opportunities: Manage high-value, long-cycle opportunities from initial engagement through tendering, commercial negotiation and contract award.
- Coordinate proposals and negotiations: Work with headquarters,
product divisions and factories to prepare quotations, resolve technical clarifications, develop commercial proposals and negotiate contractual terms.
- Support customer qualification: Coordinate prequalification, homologation and vendor-registration activities with customers and relevant internal teams.
- Maintain commercial visibility: Keep CRM records, opportunity pipelines, sales forecasts and customer information accurate and up to date. Monitor competitors, market developments and customer investment plans to help shape our Iberian commercial strategy.
- Coordinate customer engagement: Prepare and participate in customer meetings and visits, including those involving headquarters colleagues, ensuring clear objectives, effective coordination and timely follow-up.
- Connect sales with execution: Work closely with the Madrid project-management team to ensure a clear, effective handover of awarded projects, including customer requirements, contractual commitments and key commercial considerations.
What We Are Looking For
- Ideally 8+ years of relevant experience in technical B2B sales, key account management or business development within power transmission and distribution or closely related electrical infrastructure.
- Relevant product and project knowledge , such as power transformers, GIS, switchgear, circuit breakers, substations, grid automation, protection and control, or power-quality solutions.
- Strong knowledge of the Spanish electricity and infrastructure market , with direct commercial exposure to utilities, EPC contractors or major industrial customers. Established relationships with relevant customers and industry participants would be particularly valuable.
- A proven ability to manage complex, high-value and long-cycle sales opportunities , supported by strong negotiation skills, commercial judgment and effective coordination across technical and commercial teams.
- Professional fluency in Spanish and English , both spoken and written. Portuguese-language capability and/or experience in the Portuguese market would be an advantage.
- A relevant university degree in engineering, a technical discipline or business, together with the technical understanding required to engage confidently with customers and internal specialists.
Candidates will be assessed on their overall suitability, relevant experience and commercial track record, rather than years of experience alone.
How We Work
We value professionals who combine independence and initiative with teamwork, transparency and accountability.
You should be comfortable working in a multicultural environment, collaborating with overseas headquarters and manufacturing teams, and sharing customer and opportunity information openly. Disciplined reporting, reliable follow-through and clear, professional communication are important parts of the role.
We welcome constructive challenge and different perspectives. Once decisions are agreed, we expect colleagues to work together to turn them into effective action.
As our Iberian business and Madrid organization develop, the role may offer opportunities for broader commercial responsibility, depending on sustained performance, individual contribution and business needs.
Location, Working Arrangements and Travel
This is a Madrid-based position requiring regular in-person attendance at our Madrid Office. Candidates must already be based in Madrid or be willing to relocate and make Madrid their permanent work base.
The position is not fully remote . Face-to-face collaboration with the Madrid team, customer visits and coordination with visiting headquarters colleagues are integral to the role. Any limited remote-working arrangement will be subject to company policy and operational requirements.
Regular business travel throughout Spain and Portugal is required.
Preferred start date: September–October 2026, taking into account the selected candidate’s notice period.
