You will lead DS Smith’s new Product Safety laboratory in Valencia, driving analytical chemistry testing and technical leadership for Ru0026amp;D and strategic initiatives. In this role you guide the team, manage operations and budget, and act as the lab’s technical ambassador to clients and internal stakeholders. You’ll design and interpret experiments, ensure regulatory compliance for food contact materials, and continuously improve methods and equipment. This position combines hands-on science with people and process leadership to deliver reliable, commercial-ready results. Compensaciones / Incentivos
• Lead the laboratory and team, directing daily operations, workflows, and resource allocation
• Serve as primary technical contact for customers, presenting results and commercially relevant recommendations
• Represent the laboratory in customer visits, audits, and technical reviews
• Support Ru0026D projects through experimental design, testing, data interpretation, and technical reporting
• Manage laboratory budget, purchasing, inventory, and cost control
• Drive continuous improvement of methods, processes, and equipment




• Maintain knowledge of food contact regulations and testing methodologies
• Collaborate with Ru0026D teams to ensure quality, productivity, and best practices
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and maintenance standards
• Prepare and review scientific reports, upholding confidentiality and professional standards

Responsabilidades
• MSc in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, or related discipline
• PhD is advantageous
• Experience with analytical instrumentation in industrial, Ru0026D, testing, or CRO environments
• Experience assessing food contact materials and regulatory compliance
• Strong experience with HPLC, GC, ICP, method development, validation, and troubleshooting
• Understanding of food contact regulations and packaging materials (paper, board, cellulose-based)
• Ability to analyze data, solve technical problems, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience managing projects, laboratory operations, quality systems, and regulatory compliance
• Experience with paper, board, or packaging materials is a plus
• Fluent in Spanish and English (B2/C1)
• Travel within UK and Europe to support Ru0026D trials and business activities
