As an Information Management Specialist, you will drive Open Science and support researchers by implementing Open Science principles through cross-institutional collaboration and information management projects.

You will play a key role in making the data catalog and business glossary an integral part of researchers' workflows and guide researchers in managing their information assets, including datasets, definitions, reports, code, and machine-learning models.

Key responsibilities

- Drive Open Science and support researchers through information management initiatives.
- Lead the business adoption of the data catalog and business glossary.
- Guide researchers in managing information assets through workshops, visual tools, training materials, and communication channels.
- Assist with the preparation and completion of Data Management Plans (DMPs) and oversee their implementation within relevant projects.
- Structure, improve, and contribute to information management practices.
- Collaborate with ICT, researchers, and business stakeholders to gather needs, create prototypes, and validate tooling capabilities.
- Collect structured feedback, user insights, and improvement recommendations for the selection, configuration, and enhancement of information management tooling.
- Identify and develop improvements to policies, guidelines, standards, processes, templates, terminology, and metadata.
- Design, set up, and structure document libraries that support the information lifecycle.
- Define and maintain ontologies that bring coherence to terminology and definitions, and support the development of a reference data management tool.




- Facilitate workshops and build strong networks among researchers and project managers to proactively identify opportunities and needs.
- Represent the organisation in relevant research data management and ontology development activities.

What you bring

- A Master's degree or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of work experience, or demonstrated high potential as an analytically strong junior professional with the right mindset.
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with the ability to analyse information structures, processes, and metadata.
- Excellent abstraction skills: able to distil complex reality into clear models, structures, and actions.
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts using diagrams and structured presentations.
- Strong stakeholder and workshop facilitation skills and the ability to align diverse stakeholders.
- Affinity and interest in information/data governance and metadata management.
- A self-directed, ownership-driven working style with a proactive approach to finding information and moving work forward.
- Adaptability, resilience, and a solution-oriented mindset when facing ambiguity and new challenges.
- A creative problem-solver with a strong can-do mentality, who enjoys figuring things out and learning quickly.
- Working proficiency in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
