Microbiology Expert

Join an innovative cosmetics and personal care company and play a key role in the design, implementation, and validation of a new internal molecular microbiology capability focused on microbiome analysis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled scientific professional who combines strong project management capabilities with extensive hands-on laboratory expertise. The successful candidate will lead the setup of a microbiology workflow from scratch, driving methodology development, validation, implementation, and knowledge transfer within the organization.

We are looking for a practical scientist with real laboratory experience, capable of bridging experimental work and data interpretation while ensuring scientific excellence and operational execution.

What would your duties be?

- Lead the design, implementation, and validation of a new molecular microbiology workflow from the ground up.
- Coordinate project activities, timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables to ensure successful execution.
- Assess existing capabilities, identify gaps, and define implementation roadmaps.
- Design and optimize experimental methodologies and laboratory workflows.
- Develop, validate, and document scientific procedures, protocols, and SOPs.
- Perform and oversee molecular microbiology activities including: DNA/RNA extraction, PCR and Qpcr, Sequencing sample preparation, Microbial culture techniques, Method optimization and troubleshooting
- Support experimental design, workflow development, and laboratory validation activities.




- Collaborate with scientific teams to interpret microbiome-related data and experimental outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards and good laboratory practices.
- Drive knowledge transfer and support the development of internal scientific capabilities.

Which are the requirements for this position?

- MSc or PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
- Proven experience in Molecular Microbiology within laboratory environments.
- Extensive hands-on wet lab experience, including routine experimental work.
- Strong expertise in: DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, Sequencing workflows, Microbial cultures, Experimental design and methodology development, Workflow implementation and validation, Troubleshooting laboratory processes
- Experience working in regulated environments and under Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) or similar quality systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage scientific projects while maintaining a strong operational laboratory focus.
- Understanding of microbiome research and sequencing-based methodologies.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics concepts and data interpretation.




- Advanced English level (written and spoken).
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.

What would be highly valued?

- Experience in skin microbiome, human microbiome, or microbiome-related research.
- Experience building laboratory capabilities or workflows from scratch.
- Previous exposure to cosmetics, dermocosmetics, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, food-tech, healthcare, or CRO environments.
- Experience in sequencing-based microbiology workflows.
- Ability to translate scientific findings into practical and business-relevant recommendations.
- Previous experience leading multidisciplinary scientific projects.

- Versátil schedule:
- Monday to Thursday: start between 08:00 and 09:00, finish between 17:00 and 18:00.
